Question:

Why did the "New Zealand Listener" go from being a decent magazine a few years ago to the tripe it is today?

As in what prompted the change?

In a recent interview with their editor she said: "We're aware that magazine readership skews female these days. So that's why we've introduced new health and nutrition columnists."

So.. now it's a shallow and sexist magazine?

  1. personally I always regarded this magazine as tripe.  why would you care anyway?  why so heated over a magazine?  I never read magazines, I'm too busy & I consider them a waste of time & money, same with newspapers.

  2. I don't even remember the last time I looked at a Listener, the internet these days is a far better source for opinion and news than glossies and if the Listener wants to become another Woman's Weekly then so what?

The TV Guide should be a good alternative or subscribe to something like Investigate, Time, even the NZ Herald; the herald even has daily tv listings in it and the (I think) Thursday edition has a pull out weekly tv guide.
