  1. Yes - to all who have answered before.  But, unlike the Queen who used to ride side-saddle for the Trooping of the Colour  -- The Princess Royal now rides astride in her regimentals.

  2. It's more proper for women. They wear the floor length dresses and it'd look weird for a lady to have her legs over the horse's back with her skirt everywhere, so if everything is on one side, it just looks better and more feminine.

  3. When you wear a long dress it is very hard to ride like a man.

  4. to look more lady like... it's to make them look "better".

  5. Riding astride was unbecoming, awkward, and immodest particularly for women of wealth and status at a time when fashion and custom dictated that they wear long skirts.

  6. All women of class rode sidesaddle, because they were wearing dresses!

  7. The side saddle became popular during the late medieval period.  It was considered more modest for women to ride side-saddle than astride I think. It became popular for women to ride astride again in the early 20th century.  However, the Queen only rode side-saddle on ceremonial occasions, I think she probably rode astride when she was riding in the country rather than at state occasions in London.

And certainly other royal women of the present era have always ridden astride.  Princess Anne for instance, who did show-jumping when she was young.

  8. all women did this at one time.

  9. Women rode side-saddle--that is the correct term--side-saddle.It was the style of the day for women, who wore voluminous,full-skirted dresses and petticoats to ride side-saddle.Women were not expected to be athletic in those days.

  10. It was believed that riding astride like a man caused miscarriages in women.  (It doesn't)  Unfortunately for centuries of women, riding side saddle is far more dangerous than the standard position and it's not great on the horse either.

  11. To make them seem more feminine and proper. Back then, only men were allowed to wear pants, therefore women were forced to ride sidesaddle or in a carriage.

  12. not only  royls rode horse side sadle, all noble women rode side sadle,

was so they didn't show when they have sexual climax

when women ride leg both side they regularly have sexual stimulation

ask question about that here and your question will be classed as iolation   horse ppl try to keep it secret
