Question:

Why did the sales tax rise in Chicago this year?

Cook County now has one of the highest sales tax (if not highest) in the country. This county represents Chicago, the city & near areas. What rips my goat is that the RICH suburbs directly outside the city (Schaumberg, Hoffman Estates & Palatine amongst others). Once again Springfield sides with the rich & the city folk get burnt. I'm sure the poor & lower middle class citizens in the southside & westside are hurting the most. Why's this happening???

  1. Chicago is in BIG DEBT.

I live in Chicago too, it's a big load when you have 11% on something. That's just terrible. The outer suburbs also are getting heavily taxed as you mentioned. Cook county sucks.

  2. The Highest

Due to corrupt and inefficient county government

Due to nepotism and idiot voters who elected Todd Stroger who wanted even higher taxes

NOBODY had to vote for Stroger, but they did and see where this got us?

Springfield has nothing to do with this, it's county voters and county politicians.
