usa won the olympic since each sport they take there like 5-8 people.Unlike the other country they don't past be 5.So when usa got more people they got more percentage of winning.i think the olympic should set up a rule on the amount of people for each sports.

  1. USA didn't win. Firstly China came top of the medals table America had a bigger total of medals however China had more Gold. And secondly there are no winners and losers in countries ownly individuals.

I think the size of America helps, with a population of over 300,000,000 people your bound to find people who are good in at least all events. Also they spend a lot of money on training. Oh and also they offer more money to their sports people and so many people who are not American but perhaps have an American relation, like a mother, choice to represent USA then their own country (that point was on the news 3 weeks ago.)

I do agree though that there should be a limit to how many people per event should be allowed for each country.

  2. No country actually "wins" the olympics, the Athletes do.

You can get a most medal count, but there is no real rules for "winning" them

  3. who said USA won??. (oh! i forgot. Yahoo USA did)...

    Yahoo australia

    Yahoo Germany

    ABC australia

    British Broadcasting Corp (BBC)

  4. USA worked hard thats why 110 medal coming home.

  5. USA didn't win the olympics.......

ONLY USA tv channels and websites will say that

NO OHTER nations in the world will say that US won, i promise you. try visiting other country's website

China won because total medal isn't the factor when doing the country ranks, it's the gold medals... it has always been that way and that is how rest of the world will recognize.

if any other country saw US celebrating the winning of oylmpic medal counts, they'll jsut be like.. wtf?

  6. Its not favoritism or anything, all athletes have to qualify for the olympics.  Its just that the US has superior athletes compared to smaller countries.  They won the olympics due to hard work, dedication, and athleticism.

  7. First of all, no country "wins the olympics."

By the official medal count, The US got the most medals, but China won more golds.  (This counts each team medal as one, not the number of athletes on the team.)

They DO set limits on how many competitors there are from each country.

Depending on the sport or event, you're only allowed to have 2-3 athletes (or 1 team).

Most sports also require the country, team or individuals to qualify in international level competition prior to the olympics.

For example, Olympic Gymnastics Qualification was based on the 2007 World Championships.

Teams that placed 1st-12th are able to send a full team (6 athletes).

Teams that were 13-15th place can send 2 athletes

Teams that were 16-18th place could send 1 athlete.

13 men and 13 women qualified individually based on their All-Around or event performances

4 men and 4 women "wild cards" were chosen by the FIG and IOC

That makes 98 men, 98 women, with a max of 6 from any one country (and a max of 2 per country on Event Finals and 3 per country on AA finals).

  8. Because the usa is more olympic material!!!!

actually to be precise china had more athletes then america competing in the 2008 olympics.

    china 629 athletes

    usa 559 athletes

also the olympis are not just competeing athlete to athlete

the olympics are about each country and where they stand!!! india has more people in they're country then the us so how come inda didnt have more athletes?  its becuase india doesnt take as much pride in the olympics as the US does...
