  1. this is from the nbc website for the olympics if you want to read the whole article then go to nbc.com

For one Swedish wrestler, it means the end of his career - and he made sure everyone knew it on the world's biggest stage.

After he took the bronze in the 84 kilogram weight class, two-time former world champion Ara Abraham said, "I don't care about this medal. I wanted gold. This will be my last match. I wanted to take gold, so I consider this Olympics a failure

  2. He didn't get the gold and he called the Olympics a FAILURE???

  3. well from what i understand he waas just pissy that he didnt win gold... sore looser much ... d**n swedes

  4. Four words...temper tantrum cry baby.

  5. It was the Swede wrestler who threw his bronze saying he didn't want it.  He said the Olympics were a failure and he would not be coming back.

“I don’t care about this medal. I wanted gold,” he said. “This will be my last match. I wanted to take gold, so I consider this Olympics a failure,” he said.

    See story below.

  6. The wrestler claimed that the judging was of poor quality, and was based on politics rather than performance.  Unfortunately greco-roman wrestling is something of a subjective sport to judge, it's not like archery where you either hit the target or you don't.

Considering that most of the athletes favored to do well in that event didn't make the finals, he may have been on to something.  But the proper thing to do would be to accept the Bronze medal, and file a formal protest about the judging later.

Throwing down the medal just looks like bad sportsmanship, and hurts any legitimate complaint about the judging he might have.
