Why did they choose Robert Pattinson to play Edward, in the Twilight series, instead of Henry Cavill?

I know that Henry Cavil is 24, but who gives a c**p? He is obviously WAY better than Robert Pattinson, (who isn't even cute!) Were the producers drunk when they chose him?! What's the deal?! Am I missing something? Please explain this to me. And actually ANSWER THE QUESTION!!

Really there is nothing to explain to you.Your question is just your opinion. There are thousands of girls out there completely in love with Pattinson and think he is perfect for the role.

I dont have much of an opinion who plays Edward. What I am more worried about is them messing up the movie. I will be more disappointed if the movie sucks.

Cavil was the first choice, but they wanted someone who was younger and looked more like a teenager.

The answers plain and simple...Henry Cavill looked to ordinary. Robert Pattison was more alluring, more mysteriously attractive, and his mannerisms were swifter, sexier, and more pronounced....Stephenie Meyer had say in who was chosen for Edward, and she was there personally during Rob's screen test...she said herself that he was the perfect image of the Edward she created.....and in my personal opinion I think that Rob Pattinson is the hottest guy I've ever seen, and i also think that Henry Cavill is kind of ugly...but no offense to him or people who like him..

I can't actually answer your question....because I have the same one!  Henry Cavil is like the drop dead gorgeous image I had in my head of Edward.  This Robert Pattinson guy is hideous!  It totally ruined my image of Edward.  He's nowhere near "Vampire Hott".  And his hair looks totally fake!

Henry Caville said that he would never, ever, ever play a vampire. that pretty much nipped it in the bud.

and Robert Pattinson is really cute. Watch the second movie trailer, and open your mind a little. he looks as Edward as it's going to get. you DO remember that Edward is "inhumanly" beautiful, right? of course they couldn't find someone who looked like him!

Robert Pattinson seems like a great actor. but i never though Henry was a good choice. ever.

Seriously? Okay, so, Robert isn't drop dead gorgeous, but neither is Henry! I think that Robert was the right choice, because Henry doesn't really have Edward-ness that Robert does.

Henry Cavill looks way too old for the part, and Stephenie has said this before. They offered him the part of Carlisle, but he turned it down because he's loyal to his part in The Tudors.

it was weird for me, at first i was like argh noo!

then i got used to it,

now i despise him :/

as i do with kristen stewart as bella.

the only people i think are good for their parts in the movie are Victoria, Alice, Esme, Jacob, Jessica, Angela, James, and a few more.

Jasper is okay for his.

other than that, i don't feel like the movie is going to be anywhere near as good as the book.

Henry Cavil had auditioned but they thought that he was too old to play a 17 teen year old boy when he finally got up there and did the part. He does look a little old but thats what I heard from Stephanie. I forgot what website otherwise I woud've have given it to you. But yeah I think robert will  do just as good as henry.

Excuse me? Robert Pattinson IS cute. And who cares who plays Edward? There is not a boy in the world who can meet the extremely high standards that the description of Edward calls for. And there is not a boy in the world who can satisfy the standards for Edward of every girl in the world. No one's perfect, just live with it. Robbie is close enough to Edward's perfection and he is a good actor.

I hate Robert Pattinson, too. I can't stand him. I mean, I know that Edward is a hard role to play - and satisfy all of his fans - but couldn't they have at least chosen someone s**y? Robert isn't in any way hot at all!

I don't know who picked him, but I'm putting my bets that they were high on crack when they did.

Any one hotter than Robert would've satisfied me... even the crappiest acting would've sufficed! :P

He probably didn't audition for it...and while Stephenie had some power the studio still decides who to cast. The only exception was the casting of Emmet.

I agree though, Henry was such a perfect Edward...
