it is quite obviously a legitimate TRY in everyone else's eyes probably even south african fans. Whats the point in video replays if you're not going to study them PROPERLY?

  1. Hey RSA won ....

The ref said no try ... So it wasnt a try ...

    Deal with it.

  2. Rubbish. His foot was in touch. It lifted AFTER it touched the line, and touching the line in rugby IS in touch.

Live with it, it wasn't a try and no one is going to have any sympathy for an Englishman bleating that it's not fair.

  3. I'm an Englishman, i couldn't tell from the video replays but there's a picture in the Sunday Times today clearly showing Mark Cueto's foot was a couple of inches onto the touchline before he lifted it and touched the ball down.

It wasn't a try now get over it.

  4. ok i watched this one a million times, and as he lifted his foot it just touched the line, even he will admit it himself when he sees it,that the official is right,,,,rules are rules and england are fools

  5. THE GUY WAS AT AN ANGLE AND HIS FOOT TOUCH THE LINE.GET OVER IT YOU LOST "MATE",BUT WE ON THE OTHER HAND WON!!!YAY!!GIVE IT UP FOR THE SPRING BUCKS!!

  6. I believe the video was studied for a full 3 minutes.  Move on, this is getting pathetic.

  7. His foot was in the air as he went over the touch line. the try was disallowed. Most of the people that are complaining are not rugby fans. they tag on after the team started to do well. Most fans admitted last night it was a tough call. And moved on.

Stop whining about it . Leave the crying about the ref's calls to the AB's

Well done to the Boks. You deserved the win.

  8. Are you in the real world?? You obviously don't know the first thing about rugby.

In every single replay, it shows the foot touching the touchline, prior to the ball being grounded, and prior to his foot leaving the ground.

The touchjudge should have had his flag up as soon as the foot hit the line. It was a try, 100%, no denying, it's a fact, and get over yourself.

  9. To answer your question, there would be no point of video replays if they are not studied properly. Fortunately in this case it was, and the correct decision was given.

Cueto's foot was on the line before he grounded the ball. It was close, but very, very clear. It lifted again when his knee made contact and he grounded the ball, but at that point he had allready been out. Your question implies that all rational people think it was a try, which is far from the truth. The TV ref reiterated his decision, and he got support from the likes of Paddy 'O Brien (who called it a brilliant decision) and Martin Johnson. No open minded person can study the video evidence at length, particularly from behind, and conclude otherwise.

The big hoo-hah in the face of such clear evidence is very unsportsmanlike and quite unfair to the deserved champions. The pictures published in British newspapers are misleading, as the player had allready been out by the theam he grounded, even if he looked in field again at that time by lifting his boot. Also misleading is the believe there were 5 or 7 points in this decision, and England could have gone on to win. There were 2 or 4 points in the decision, since a penalty was kicked following the failed try when advantage was being played. South Africa continued a clinical execution of their game plan and out scored England in the remaining 37 minutes by 6-0.

This is the time for England to choose how they want to be remembered in 2007. As worthy contenders, or as whining bad loosers. I hear many fans are now also (selectively, I might add) criticising the on field referee, building what I can only think is a kind of conspiracy case against England.

The everyone else crowd, far from thinking the try was legitimate, is fast loosing respect for England.

  10. You could see from the replay that his foot just clipped the line before he lifted it. Unfortunately in rugby, unlike football, if you just clip the line then you are out. It was a shame but it was not a try. I am English and quite frankly we didn't play well enough to win. Our lineouts were a joke and we gave away far to much turnover ball.

And talking of people not really being fans and jumping on the band waggon its the Springboks not Bucks.

  11. his foot was on the line

  12. stick to chasing cheetahs or running barber shops. England try, best in the world

  13. He was out - regardless of which team he was on! Why can't people get over it - I think the ref is a lot more qualified to judge than a lot of couch rugby players.

Rugby has always been a gentlemans game with fantastic sportmanship amongst the teams and supporters. Why does it have to be brought down a level?

At the end of the day - regardless - 6 + 5 and possiblly 2 for a conversion still only makes 11!

Both teams played fantastic rugby - it was a great final . SA did not loose a game and played consistantly throughout.
