Why did they end the US Open in sudden death?

The sudden death rules sucks. Wouldn't it have been fairer if they would have come back and played another 18 on Tuesday?

It should have been a 4 hole playoff or sudden death never 18holes...hopefully the rule will soon change. It had to be both exhausting and damaging for both players.

think about it man. tiger wanted to just end the thing on sunday. you can't expect people to take another day off of work to watch this thing, sudden death is so intense and fun to watch.

Too bad that you dislike the 18 hole playoff rule but during the season all the players have commitments to keep. It is not like the days of yore when the golf pros had nothing else ahead of them. Today they all have other commitments for outings, tournaments, lessons, speaking engagements, clinics, sponsor outings etc.  all of which are necessary to uphold a career.. Look at the others with 4 hole gross, 3 hole match play and other such enders to eliminate the need for extra days.

You're kidding right?  Another 18, by that time everybody will get bored and nobody will care anymore who won.  Even as it is, many people think having to stop the tournament and come back on Monday for 18 hole is way too much.  The Masters have sudden death immediately after the fourth round, both PGA and British Open have four hole playoff.  Only the US Open thinks that it is too important for a sudden death or four hole play off and insists on second day 18 hole playoff.  I mean imagine a tie in Lakers vs Boston, and instead of going for five minutes (or however long the playoff is), it says, nice game everyone, let's all come back next week and decide who wins this game.

No that would be too much. You can't ask the players to play 6 straight rounds of golf. Especially with tiger's knee the way it is. Also the fans can't keep coming back day after day after day. Working people couldn't even watch today's round on tv.
