i don't know his background story in the show. I think he is adopted by a white family or something, but it just doesn't fit. He just stands out in the posters. I mean c'mon it's not really realistic. Do any of you guys believe the only reason they included a Black guy is because they didn't want to seem like they only have white cast members? Sorry it's just too hilarious.

Why do you think they included the black guy in the new 90210 show be honest?

they wanted to seem diverse? didn't want to have an all white cast? does it seem realistic though? it just feels like they are obviously trying to show diversity, but where are the asians and other minorities? American ain't white and black people.

your thoughts?

  1. everyone knows (or should know) that the black guy on that show is just a token they added to seem diverse

but hey, at least they tried

to be honest, i don't really care, i don't plan on watching the show

  2. people complain if there isnt a black person

people complain if there is a black person

    why cant people stfu

  3. I think if they were gonna add a black guy they should've added a hispanic and maybe and asian. But all white, then there's this black guy who is adopted by white people? Kinda funny.

Personally I think they should stick with an all white cast. Then later with time add a few other minorities. That would have made more sense. I say bring back the whole old cast and loose these newbies. I'm a fan of the old 90210.... this one... is not really getting my attention, but I'll give it a chance :)

p.s. I REALLY hope Tori Spelling comes back on the show. Then I would be MORE inclined to watch it.

  4. I agree with you to some extent.

The chances of a family in 90210 adopting a black child are...Who knows?

I really don't plan on watching the show anyway.

  5. Well, why shouldn't they have a black guy in the show? Why is a black guy in Beverly Hills so unrealistic? Why is it hilarious to you? There are black families who live in the posh areas of California. I lived in Cali. for 3 years in a very exclusive community not far from L.A. And, yes, there were black people there. Albeit, they were a minority, but they were there. Heck, I'm black and I was raised in a predominately white community. It happens.

I do agree with you, their cast could have included a couple of other minorities like a few Asian characters or a Latino one. But who cares if it *is* a conscious effort to show diversity? Since when is diversity a bad thing in the media?

I hadn't honestly noticed the black guy. He didn't stand out in my opinion. To me I just thought of them as a group of people.

  6. Affirmative Action?! Basically, there's no show with an all-White or all-Black or whatever anymore. The media wants to seem diverse and tolerant.

  7. Maybe the guy is biracial. considering Obama, Mariah Carey and Halle Berry were also raised in a white community.

  8. wait wait wait! hold on!

there is a new 90210 show?

    where've i been?

  9. I thought I understood your agument in the beginning. Yes, it seems like they added him for diversity. What I don't understand is your point about an Asian, are you saying it would only be okay to pretend to have diversity if the guy was Asian???

I don't get your logic, but in a way I do, since Whites are more accepting of Asians than Blacks and Latinos.

And since you think they should cut the black guy out, then you should have no problem with the existence of BET, since BET was created because of the lack of African American diversity in televison. You can't have your cake and eat it to!
