  1. Practically, the Tsar's downfall can be traced to the problems with his ill son, Alexis, and the misplaced faith his family had in Rasputin. Tsar Nicholas II was probably the most humane of all the Tsars throughout Russian history. He made mistakes but he does not deserve the villification that he has been painted with. It is possible they were murdered by the enemies of the Church because they represented Christian values and ideals.

  2. His Imperial Majesty the Sovereign Emperor Nikolai II Aleksandrovich was murdered in Yekaterinburg at the Iaptiev house, alongside with his august wife the Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, his daughter’s grand duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, his son and heir presumptive Alexei Nikolayevich, Doctor Botkin his physician, his valet Trupp, the made Demidova, The day before were murdered Prince Vassily Dolgoruky and General Count Tatischev plus countess Anastasia Hendrikova lady in waiting to the Empress. The following morning six other Romanov were murdered in Alapayevsk near Yekaterinburg, including the Empress’ sister Grand Duchess Elisabeth Feodorovna, born Princess von Hessen-Darmstadt und bein Rhein, Queen Victoria’s grand daughter. All of them were murdered following instructions from Moscow, given personally by Jacob Sverdlov and Vladimir I. Ulyanov alias Lenin and most of the heads of the Bolshevik party. They had officially announced that the whites were trying to rescue the Tsar, and initially they said that only the Emperor was “shoot”. But soon outside Russia they knew that the whole imperial family was murdered, following the plan masterminded by Lenin and Sverdlov mainly, they considered like the French revolutionaries that only destroying the dynasty, the revolution would be successful. Boris Yeltsin following instructions from Brezhnev  he ordered the demolition of the Ipatiev house in the late 1970’s, considering that for many Russians the house was like a sanctuary.  The same party boss, Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin was going to recover the remains of the Imperial family and sent them to the Imperial Mausoleum inside the Church of the Fortress of Peter and Paul in Petersburg. Princess Ekaterina of Russia daughter of Prince Ivan Konstantinovich Romanov murdered as well with "la tante Ella"; travelled to Petersburg for the burial ceremony with other members of the Imperial family. Her aunt Princess Vera Konstantinovna of Russia who lost three brothers and two uncles in hands of the Bolsheviks, couldn’t because of her age and was not well in New York City. Princess Ekaterina passed away just few months ago, was the last member of the imperial family born in Russia at the Palace of Pavlovsk, the rest were born in exile of their parents. Last but not least if it is true that many Romanov were murdered it is a fact that many others survived, including some of them that I had met and there are still members of the Imperial family in Europe and America. There are no excuses for these awful assassinations, I cannot understand those who answered blaming the family for what happened in Russia, they must be communists. only these cand defend such totalitarian and treacherous regime, which killed dozens of millions of Russians in the Gulag from 1918 to the late 1970's. Shame on them, if they have some.

  3. They killed the family for no other reason than being part of of the Romanov dynasty. It was horrible. Some people beilive that Anastasia survived, but I have seen no evidence that would point to her. There have been imposters who claimed to be Anastasia.

  4. There were three distinct groups in Russia at the time.  Those loyal to the Czar, those who wish to overthrow the Czar and establish a democracy (aka White Russians), and the Bolsheviks.  Nicholas and his family were being held by the second group, but the influence of the Bolsheviks was so great that they were turned over to them.   The Bolsheviks executed him and all of his family so there would be no possibility of any member of the royal house attempting to reclaim the throne.

  5. Everyone knows what Russian revolution looked like...There were millions of Innocent killed and one royal family just doesn't count...

Humans can be merciless and vicious, we all know that...within everyone of us a beast preys...

  6. While the family members may have been innocent, they represented a line of sucession to the russian throne. If the bolsheviks didnt kill them all there might have been a possibility of one of them attempting to claim the throne and control of russia in the future. Pretty simple, kill all opponents and threats.

There was also the bourgeoise royal aspect of it all. The revolutionarys were socialists and did not approve of a decadent royal family. Or any form or monarchy at all.

Finally russian history has been blighted by cruelty and bloodshed since the middle ages. It would have been considered the norm to kill the whole royal family.

  7. the czar and his family, servants, doctor, finance minister were murdered in 1919 on the outskirts of siberia. sad, wasn't it. they didn't have to murder them but banish them from all of the russias. know what is even sadder? the czar, in his last days on earth,  petitioned his cousin, king george V in england, for admission to england to live but was turned down. lenin and his band of unfriendly fellows gave the word to eliminate the russian royals, their camp followers, et al.  in their mind's eye, once dead, there would be no pretenders to the throne but they were wrong. several princes of the romanov's made it to america and lived (some still exist) and if it came time to claim the throne, the royal blood is still around so they accomplished nothing and began a rule within bolshevik russia that was destined not to last!  what? it lasted some 75 years? wow, that was a long time (note of sarcasm).
