Why did they trade favre for rodgers?

So Brett Favre has never missed a game in his hole intire time of being there and never gets hurt.But now they put Rodgers in who gets hurt every time he goes in and can through a pass longer than 5 yards!I just dont get how they can get rid of such an all time legend.Can any one explain this to me?
