It is really hard to answer this question. You might have had a miscarriage considering you were late with your period, but at this point you will never know because the pregnancy hormones would be gone by now. Sometimes women will just have a really whacky period. You could have been stressing about something which caused your period to be late and throw your hormones out of whack which could have caused a more severe period. There is really no way at this point to know for certain the true answer.
