They did qualify for the World Cup but went out in the group stages after a nightmare final game agaisnt Fiji. The grand slam went some to compensate us though!

Because they won the six nations in Union but the next World Cup is League. Two completely different sports.

Thats easy babe, the six nations is not part of the IRB tournaments that a team needs to win to qualify for the world cup, and it goes on world ranking points mainly eg. each test win earns you points, thats why the all blacks are always in there ,as they most of their test in the 4 year build up to the next world cup. As for the Rugby league most of Wales best players end up playing rugby

I think the only teams to automatically qualify for the next World Cup are the hosts and the teams making the quarter-finals of the previous World Cup.

So when Wales missed the semis in France 2007, it meant that they will have to go through qualifying to get to the next World Cup in NZ 2011.

After a poor world cup, they lifted their game substantially to win the 6 Nations tournament. While they get a lot of pride and prestige from that, it doesn't qualify them for anything. However I imagine their "official" world ranking jumped up a bit.

They did qualify for the world cup but did really badly in it. They won the grand slam afterwards probably due to changing their coaching staff.

I wouldnt worry too much,The AllBlacks failed in the cup and still beat everyone in the 6 nation,tri-nation and pan pacific cup teams.2011 is around the corner maybe the Welsh will be more formidable then.

The 6 Nations is a Rugby Union competition.  Wales competed in the 2007 Rugby Union World Cup.  They did not qualify for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.  Rugby Union and Rugby League are 2 different sports.
