Why did we go in Iraq?

Why did we go to iraq even when we caught Saddam? we're sending soldiers to their doom for no reasonT.T

an educational video I watched in class said there weren't even al queda in that until we arrived

We went to Iraq for a number of reasons. All have been found to be untrue except one and that was that Saddam Husein was a evil guy.

Unfortunately the cure is worst then the illness in this case.

The other reasons were that they had nuclear weapons or were close to producing them and that it was a strong hold of Al Queda. Both of these were proved untrue months before we went to war.

Some believe it is about oil. Some believe it was because Saddam tried to assassinate Bush senior.

It was not about Al Queda that is for sure. Al Queda hatted Saddam more then Bush did. In fact our involvement opened the door for them to get a philosophical strong hold in the country.

My bet. It was and is simply about war. Wars are extremely profitable for some. They unsettle society and make it possible to pass through unusual legislation. Wars can alter the course of a people dramatically, politically and socially.

It is a interesting study to read about a culture before and after a war. It is never better.

War because of the aggressive nature of some government officials (ours and other nations)  may be a fact today but nothing good comes about from them.

i agree with the war. In my opinion it is saying to anyone who wants to attack the U.S. that we are a strong nation and wont tolerate any attacks. Also we are breaking up al queda so they are scattered around and it is much harder for them to organize attacks.

what is the question when whole universe know the fact.  you have gone there for oil.  why not you go to cuba instead of attempting to enter in iran ?  why not you go to myanmar where the dictators doing more atrocities than all other dictators ?  you won't go .. because there is no oil in myanmar. sir,  please.. do the people are happy after invading iraq.  what you said.. to bring back happiness,  democracy..  saddam hussain is better.  He ruled the country, but not ruined the country.  now, it is ruined.
