Question:

Why did we only get half of our economic stimulus?

My husband and I filed our taxes together and a few weeks ago we received our economic stimulus check. We were each supposed to get $600 as far as I understood, but this check has both our names on it and is for only $600. Where is our other $600 and who do we call about this?

  1. You both had to work and have taxes taken out for 2007 to qualify and your income had to be under a certain amount. If you feel you met the requirements you can get questions annswered or contact them through www.irs.gov

  2. Understood from whom? Depends on what you owed and other variables. You will not get more than you paid, {over $600}

  3. Strange. I have a family of 4. Wife and Myself + 2 kids and we just got our $1800 check.

    My theory is that one of you two owe money and don't realize it yet. The IRS caught the error and just withheld that person's check.

    I'd say check the IRS website and start your inquiry there:

    http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=177...

    If you have any questions about your payment, please call the toll-free Rebate Hotline at 1-866-234-2942.

  4. The amount you receive is anywhere BETWEEN $600 and $1,200.  The amounts may be reduced based on your Adjusted Gross Income.  For a couple, the amount is reduced if the AGI is above $150,000, and above $75,000 for singles.
