why did white people evolve to have colored eyes? Like blue, green, grey.

Yes it is a mutation in genes, but another reason why the color of peoples' eyes change is becasue of melanin, that makes the color brown. The more melanin a person has the darker the color and for example a person with blue eyes, they don't have as much melanin as a person with brown eyes. Melanin is basically a pigment that protects and adjusts to the wavelenght present from the sun.

mutant genes - not just white people though. Some Asian people can have green eyes, etc.
