  1. For me it's because my driver is the newest two time champ.  He drives for my company.  He is a great spokesman for Lowe's

and he is one good lookin dude!

Jimmie Johnson Rules.  I am proud to have him as part of our team no matter what any one else thinks of him.

  2. Personality is the main thing I like about Jr. but mostly because he's not over-the-top in talent but he still runs good and wins races. That's the kind of guy that's good to pull for.

  3. i root for jeff gordon because he's good racer and a city dude.

  4. My Dad was a Jeff Gordon fan and we would wager every weekend on the races. He had the 24 so to spite him I would take the 20 car. Now, I still watch Tony because he is tough & good looking @ the same. time. Always helps!

  5. I started pulling for Jeff Gordon, because he is just a few years older than me, and at the time I first saw him race I thought it was cool that a guy his age was having such success.  He was only about 24 or 25 at that time.  He was also modest and didn't intentionally wreck other drivers.

  6. my brother in law showed me to jimmie johnson i've been a fan of him ever since

  7. I don't know what made me single him out in the first place, but I pull for Mark Martin because I admire him--his work ethic, his humility, his class, his driving skill, his clean racing. So many of the other drivers are arrogant self-entitled jerks.

I started pulling for Elliott Sadler after Mark semi-retired, because he seems like a likeable country boy and underdog.  I hate to admit it, but he caught my attention because he was hot <grin.>

  8. He took over for the #2 car after Rusty retired. Rusty was my longtime favorite. He is after all a past champion.

  9. for me, i first became a nascar fanatic while living in las vegas in the early 2000s.  i watched some races on tv with people i knew, then they took me to the 2003 vegas race. i liked the brashness and arrogance of the hometown boy, kurt busch.  that he was winning didn't hurt, and that he won me a fair amount of money at the sportsbooks (along with junior), and won the championship the next year, i was excited and hooked.

but when kurt said "if you think I'm good, just wait until my younger brother gets here" - i was a fan before i saw kyle ever run a race.  so i stuck by the hometown boys, even after i moved away - with kurt through his rise and fall, and with kyle from his 20th place points finish in 2005, to his 10th place in 2006, to his 5th place last year. that he was even more brash, arrogant, and funny than his brother really made me a fan.

and i just can't get either "rowdy" enough or enough of rowdy... ;-)

  10. I pull for Ricky Bobby because I liked the way he beat Jean Girard in the Taledega 500, even though they were both disqualified.  And he seemed genuinely happy to see his former teammate, Cal Naughton Jr., get his first big win.

  11. i know this sound's dumb but i liked the number 17

  12. i like fords so if u drive a ford u are a favorite of mine. i like greg biffle #16. many years.

  13. I started to like Tony Stewart when he was a rookie. My mom has worked for Home Depot since a little bit after i was born in 1992 so it was within the first few years. My dad got me into NASCAR and as soon as i knew of the number 20 Home Depot Pontiac(before pontiac left) i was pulling for him. He and Joe Gibbs Racing have been my guys since then.

  14. forty-two

  15. I picked Carl Edwards because for his First win he just barely beat Jimmie Johnson at Atlanta and then he did his kick butt backflip and MAN that made me LOVE him!

  16. Because his name was Clint, and the first time I saw his name I was all "Clint?! Who names their kid Clint nowadays" and I also thought of the song "Clint Eastwood" by Gorillaz. Saw him second in NBS points and was all "Wow, this guy's gonna be big."

  17. When I first started being a fan of NASCAR in 1998, I chose a Ford driver because of my personal preference of vehicles.  I chose to follow Kenny Irwin in the Texaco car, and he so happens won the Rookie of the Year that year.  When he joined a Chevy team, I changed to another Ford driver who happened to be Matt Kenseth in the DeWalt car, he also happened to be a Rookie of the Year.  I've stuck with him ever since then.

  18. Well my favorite driver is Tony Stewart. I started pulling for him when I heard he gives a lot of money to charities and goes to see children with different illnesses. I really had no idea he was as great as he is and really ever since then I have been a Tony Stewart fan!

  19. I started pulling for Bill Elliott after watching a little bit of a race with my dad when I was six. I guess I liked the way Bill raced or maybe it was some other reason.

  20. I started following Jr. when he first started driving in the Busch series in 1996, when he only ran a few races.  He was just a young kid with a good attitude.  My other fave is Smoke.  I started following him when he won the USAC Triple Crown in 1995.  Then in 1998 when he started driving for JGR, that was even better.

    Go JR.>>>

  21. I had no idea people tugged on their favorite driver's stick shift.  Personally, I stick to pulling it myself.

  22. i pull 4 danica cause she rocks!!!

  23. I started pulling for my driver because I like him.  He is a great driver.

  24. tony, dont know why didnt really know ho he was, i was just goin to try to get in to nascar, since football was over, so i wached a race, and picked a random driver right awayi just saw the ticker at the top, saw an orange 20, and said stewart, i think thats how it hapend, either that or i was watching a show on espn, talking about the best drivers, but i dont really know

  25. I liked Jr ever since he first started racing and yes I liked his dad alot too but that's not why I like Jr. One of the reasons I like Jr is because he tries to be his own man and he knows he's not his dad, he just grew up around racing and he loves it and is good at it.  He also is down to earth and has a good attitude!!  Go Jr!!!!

  26. for money

  27. im not sure, when i got into nascar a few years ago i immideatley liked tony stewart and jr.

  28. Their dad (lol)

I can't say that Dale Earnhardt had nothing to do with it. I was a die hard Sr. fan since the mid 80's, and I started to follow Jr's career in 1997. Junior is no mirror image of his father, and he never tried to be. Sure, his name got him noticed, but it was his personality, character, and drive that made me a fan.

To those who think he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and his career handed to him, you really should do some research. You'd be surprised.

  29. Mark Martin personally recommended him !!

  30. Robby Gordon, immediately after the busch race in Canada where he did a better burnout than Harvick.  My previous favorites (Terry Labonte and Dave Marcis) retired, so I had to find a new one.

  31. I don't remember the year it was, but when Jamie McMurray's engine blew up Richmond and he missed the chase because of it, he could of been slamming on every single person back at the Ganassi shop, but we was so calm about it, when we could of been screaming his heart out and probably no one would think less of him because he had a great reason to be. That made me become a fan of his.
