Was it because of of friends family or are they your local team or did you just like the colour of their strip?

Also, have you always supported the same team or did you ever support someone else when you were younger?

  1. Rangers chose me, cos i am one of the people, the proddy people

  2. I am a Detroit Tigers Fan!! Born & raised in a southern burb of Detroit!! Started to really follow them about 1967!When I was 8. My Father&I,would sit on the front porch and listen to the games on our own transistor radio, with our own little ear plug! It was super in 69,when they won the world series!!!

  3. as a child I followed Emelyn Hughes wherever he went and then later managed!! sad day when he passed

anyway my love of Celtic came later...I had never seen so much passion from the fans and the players and Celtic went with all I had been brought up to believe in.

to support Celtic means I feel part of a family..it's a way of life for me now...lucklily I met a man who feels the same...

  4. lived next door to jock wallace until i was 10 , then when i was 23 moved next door to jeffries . only glad it wasnt other way round.

  5. i was born a arsenal fan my dad and ma grandad were arsenal fans and ive been supporting arsenal for ma whole life plus i was born near near highbury (old stadium)

  6. Because all my family and most of the people in my area support them, i've always supported the same team.

  7. I cant believe you were so dumb as ask this!!!..you only need to hear your name to realise that you would be brainwashed at an early age..but to answer as a FREE minded individual I supported my local team and no I never have or will support any other team..they can make all the excuses they want but we all know why they really support the old firm

  8. My late brother won the "Player of the Tournament" at the local schools' Mini World Cup in 1974, and was presented a Scotland Munich World Cup top by Kenny Dalglish & Billy McNeill.

The captain and the glamour of Celtic football club stood before us, and that was how I became a Celtic fan.

The team most local to me is Queens Park. And a tale there is a guy a used to work with was captain of Arbroath, and he invited Mini Charlie and I to the opening game against Queens.

I got my ticket for the stands, and my mate took Mini Charlie on to the pitch for a kickabout with the squad.

I tell you Hampden can get awfy dusty, cos it was in my eyes that day.

  9. I was born to be a Celtic supporter and never have I questioned that one. I was born in the Calton area of Glasgow and recently I was impressed by another local lads comment on that subject, Tommy Burns said "We invented Celtic FC in this area and others around the world became fans"

It's something you are either born to or you fall in love with, Celtic FC.

I must say I am lucky to be selected by God to support his favourite team.

  10. Truth

Because everyone in my school supported them, the same way everyone in the school next to us "holy family primary" supported another team.

The majority of answers on here are friendly so I will leave it at that

  11. I was a Celtic supporter as a boy, my first strip was a Celtic strip my boyhood hero was Jinky Johnstone, I became disillusioned when i became old enough to understand what sectarianism was. I was called a fenian B*****B, by a boy the same age as me who didnt have a clue what his remark meant, but it had to be right because  his dad told him so. I also heard boys. who supported Celtic, calling other boys Orange B******S. I then decided enough is enough. I Changed to my local team Killie, where you are accepted regardless of which faith you choose to practice. And the rest is history, however as i have always said i continue to have a fondness in my heart for the hoops. and i always will.

  12. i started supporting nottingham forest when i was 3, i'm now 25, and even though we have had a bad few years, i wouldn't change, and to answer your other question, yes they are my local team

  13. I've always supported Celtic and to be honest I think it's a family thing i.e.a father takes his son to a game and it builds up from there.

  14. I didn't start supporting them, not that I remember anyway, it was just something that was always in my life, also they were my local team when I was a kid LOL not really, I lived closer to Ibrox if I'm honest but why would my family bring me up supporting a sectarian team whos fans hated us just because we were Irish?, I liked the strip, my family and friends all supported the same team and no, I never supported another team other than Celtic, although I have went to Derry City and Cliftonville matches with friends that support them!

  15. The teams I support are Liverpool and Celtic . The reason I started to support Liverpool as a child was because my brother followed Man united and the reason I support Celtic was because I'm from Ireland and I would have got mocked as a child for following Rangers .I have always supported Liverpool and I always will

  16. Have always been a bluenose,my dad's mate tried to convert me to a hibs fans when I was about 4 when he used to take me to easter road but thankfully we moved when I was nearly 5 and left that daft wee phase behind me lol

It was down to family though all my dad's side of the family support rangers but have never wanted to support anyone else anyway even as I got older, the only difference now is I also have an english team which I never had before until I met hubby.

  17. lol at thomas...well same as everyone else really my dad and all his side were rangers mad and he took us to all the games...my mums side were celtic and kept trying to convert us but my dad worked his magic..lol..also the only rangers fans at our primary school so we toughened up quick..:-)..did go to a few motherwell games..who are my local side but that was only to see davie cooper who was my dads idol...

  18. I'm from Aberdeen and my Dad and his family are from Aberdeen, so we support..

    Aberdeen!

Also had a Spurs strip when I was a kid because I was impressed watching them in a cup final. Glory hunter eh?

    Forever a sheep-shagger!

  19. I  have sopported same team since day a was born. could never support any other .ma father grandfather his father could go on.

  20. I've liked Man Utd since I was 4 or 5 and yes, it was really just because red was my favourite colour. So I guess I could just have easily ended up supporting Middlesborough, what a horrible thought....

  21. I was born there and even though ive moved since then, i think you should stick with your team through good times and bad times.

  22. I'm an Ayr fan brought up in Kilmarnock (major rivals). That's right, my dad was mental.

    Always supported Ayr, always will.

  23. Probably cos ma Dad supported them at first, they were his local team. I was born in Maryhill so maybe should've supported Plastic Whistle.  But as I got older, I liked the fitba' they played (which, at the end of the day, is whit it's aw meant tae be aboot)

  24. 1980 Scottish Cup Final. First time I watched Celtic, it ended up being quite a day!!

I supported them that day, because I had a couple o bluenoses in ma class and who always went oan about them aw the time.

  25. i used to live in a wee childrens home on Springbank street which is right infront of Firhill.

We used to climb on top of the old stand, which is now the Jackie Husband stand, and watch the games for free.

at the young age it was the red and yellow strip that made me follow the Jags, and later on i played for the Junior teams under the direction of Gordon Chisholm amongst some other coaches.

Think Thistle were the first team i wore the colours of and watching thier games was when i learned the rules of football so id say they are the only team iv ever followed in scottish football.

  26. my dad supported them for idk how long but i remember always liking the red strip and i remember being allowed to stay up till 9 pm when i was like 7 to watch the man u vs bayern munich champions league final and after the amazing comeback i was hooked as a red devils fan. ive liked them ever since

  27. i was born a bluenose, my dad was one.

plus i live a 20 minute walk from the stadium so besides benburb, they are the closest team to my house.

  28. Wow ...

This is a really good question with a grand amount of quality answers.

I was raised a Ger when we moved to Ireland in the mid 70's ... I made the change to Inverness after going to a match in 2000/01(?) when they played Ross County ... I think there were 3.000 there? ... They weren't even a Premier side when I started following them. I was a Caley Thistle after that match. I met a grand amount of very good people during that match, that I still keep in touch with (and have a pint or two each year, when I travel back) throughout the years.

And indeed, like others here with secondary sides they support, I have a soft spot for Gers and will still watch them. And yes, I buy the odd Rangers kit every now and again, but me heart is in the Pride, The Pride of the Highlands ... Caley Thistle.

  29. Honestly started to support Rangers as a child because I hated the colour green and to annoy my  brothers who were all into Rugby and supported Hawick who played in green. Since then there has been no other team for me only Rangers and our local team here in Cyprus 'Lapta'.

  30. My dad supports the gers and he used to take me when i was younger to the games ( i think he thought i was a lad) but i really enjoyed the atmosphere but at the tender age of 31 (i meant 6) the singing didnt mean anything but now sometimes its great to hear the fans chanting and singing the songs. it sends shivers up my spine

    cmon the teddy bears
