  1. You clearly dont know much about the other Prophets

King Solomon is said to have had 700 wives and 300 concubines (1 Kings 11:3) Also, king David is said to have had many wives and concubines (2 Samuel 5:13). The Old Testament does have some injunctions on how to distribute the property of a man among his sons from different wives (Deut. 22:7). The only restriction on polygamy is a ban on taking a wife's sister as a rival wife (Lev. 18:18). The Talmud advises a maximum of four wives. 51 European Jews continued to practice polygamy until the sixteenth century. Oriental Jews regularly practiced polygamy until they arrived in Israel where it is forbidden under civil law. However, under religious law which overrides civil law in such cases, it is permissible. 52

  2. Adam had one wife because he was the first man and Eve was the first women, and no other human existed except their children.

But as the population increased, people started disobeying the laws of God that came through Adam's teaching and teaching of other prophets over time.  male dominance in the world, lack of women's right, tyranny and many others... it was also norm at times to take more than 20 wives.

Your question is missing in betweens and therefore it itself lacks logic in some parts. (eventhough I'm not sure in which angle you are viewing from)

BUT Abraham had two wives. Sarah and Hagar

And Islaam doesn't say to take four wife is perfect, rather it emphasizes one wife, but you can take upto four *if *only you treat them equal, and give their mahr/wedding gift, complete all their other rights.

Islaam is a complete way of life, so to look at it only as *just a belief system (seperation of church and state) won't work.  What are the laws against a man who cheats on his wife in the west?  What are the rights of the women if she has less money and a bad lawyer, and the man has tons and good lawyer? I know a man who isn't a Muslim, and was cheating on his wife, while he was providing for both the women, yet he was happy to be with both until the wife found out and is in the process of divorce.  Getting either almost no help from the husband, or loosing her children.  And ofcourse there are soo many other stories... and so many times it is either not fair to the man, or to the woman or her children.

The guidline in Islaam is there as a limit, by giving the due rights to all parties.

The rules of this world is different than the rules of paradise.  We are not trying to create paradise in this world, but justice and peace.  The peace of Paradise is completely different!

And paradise is different!!!  Paradise has everything a human or jinn loves multiplied in ways we cannot imagine.  Nor will we have the same body and appearance.  Paradise therefore doesn't specify a max or min limit/number of wife/husband one may have or may not have, but it says whatever makes one happy, and more than what one would ask for, that which would please them.

...and..... sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by "no hymns to the Lord"?  Because we have plenty, yet it is different than actual songs, because worship to the Lord is not mere singing and clappings... it is more special and sacred than that!

  3. thats a wierd Q. in islam no one is forced to mary more than 1 it's a choice. he didn't want to so he didn't. whats bugging you?? you want to go ahed and if you don't then don't. no ones gonna force you to do.

by the way what the 1st user ans is good. from where is he gonna get the other 3 ladies ??

  4. Because it was God's intention that there be one woman for one man and vice versa.  It was man who changed this and started taking on more than one wife according to custom, not religion.

  5. Because ALLAH wanted only ONE for him and HE allowed 4 for others only in such strici conditions that He HIMSELF says that you cannot fullfill. It is up to a muslim to take another test in whis ALLAH told that he will fail.

  6. Because

    1. he didn't really have a choice since there wasn't anyone else around

    2. he didn't need to.

The way I see it is that the multiple-wife ruling was revealed during a time of war and violence. Hence lots of widows. In a society where widowed women really couldn't get by in life, a man is what they needed in order to survive in society and life. So... yeah I could explain more but I guess you can put 2 and 2 together :p

    *edit*

so to add... women today in many countries are able to get along in society perfectly fine without a male partner in their life like a husband or whatever.  So - while there havent been any real changes to that ruling the test remains:-  Will a man marry others simply for the fulfilment of lustful desires , or will he do so out of necessity and duty as Muhammad s.a.w did?

It's an unecessery act in many situations and circumstances now. The test is do you do it for the right reasons?

    *edit*

sorry, so to add some sort of relevance. Besides the fact that Adam didn't have anymore women to marry/be lawful partners with, he really didn't *need* to because there wasnt a socially constructed situation where women couldn't survive in a society with a man or lots of widows etc. See what I mean bro?

  7. the idea of having 4 wives is in time of distraught to protect widowed and orphans from having noone to take care of them....

1)I don't think adam was at war

    2) shows you that a woman who marries a married man thus intruding in another families' life nowaday, where a woman in most places is free to work and does not need a man in that sense is not living well because she is just taking the easy way out.

  8. He needed his ribs to protect his lungs and heart. Three more wives, three more sets of short ribs.

  9. Well as the story goes there was only Adam and Eve, right? So were was he supposed to get the other 3 wives if he wanted it to be that way?

  10. Sorry but your question seems to be very immature. no offense. Time kept changing, as more people came into this world, various thinkings took place, development took place, and Final Religion Islam came in to being after so many many years. Sometimes, there is no WHY at all. At that time, there wasn't much population. today there are thousands of women and men. enough women to get married to ~!

  11. Note that in the bible Solomon had 700 wives...

And I think you've forgotten that there was only one woman alive at that time; bit of a problem if you want more than one wife.

    x

  12. Thousands of girl/boy friends, many children your children our children their children , to avoid confusion just giving mother's boy friends name as father.

what is great by having no wife at all and many children with your name illegally as their father?????!!!!!!!

All prophets Had many wives, So what?

  13. What a foolish question. And if he did would it make a difference to you? Will you have more money in your bank because of that? Or will it help you lose weight? Fool!
