Why didn't I get an economic stimulus check?

I am 20 years old and in college. I could have really used it!

  1. your income had to be at least $3000 for 2007


  2. lol, ask your parents to share.  you pay taxes on your own?

    Edit: yea, that's right...your parents are lying to you and living it up while you go to college at their expense!

  3. Did you work? Thats why I didnt get one...my husband got his, and we got $300 for my son.

  4. You must file your 2007 tax return.

    If you owe back taxes the IRS will deduct part or all of your stimulus payment and apply it to that debt.

    Sucks.

    Edit: I see your parents claimed you as a dependant.  I think that means you are not eligible.

    do you use your parents for student loans ? if yes then no u can't get one.

    don't ask ur parents for $$ b/c they don't get any extra for ya either b/c u are over the age of 17.

  6. You probably did not file a 2007 tax return. Are you only in college and do not work?

  7. Did you send in your taxes?  Also I am a student as well and I only got 300 back... I think it may be because of the tax credits we already get.  Also there is still time to get one.. If you got a paper refund then it will come later.  They do it by SSN, so if your SSN last 2 numbers are really high like 99 its might be really late in July.  It may also be that you are a dependent in which case your parents got extra money for you as their child.  Although I'm not sure if they get more if you are over 18.  I'm 23 so I dont file with my dad anymore.

  8. Here's a link to the criteria in order to have received your check. Maybe your parents are still claiming you as a depend ant since your are in college??

  10. I haven't gotten mine yet.  I checked on the IRS site and it just said it was held up.  check where yours is or if you're going to get one.
