Why didn't MJF want to get with Boof in the beginning of Teen Wolf?

Am i the only one who thought boof was hot? i realize macaroni isn't the hottest last name in the world, but hey, boof was hot. I thought she looked way better than the actual girl he wanted.

It's the same in nearly every teen film. Boy and girl are friends, boy (or girl) likes the token popular kid, they get them for a while until they realize that their friends is actually the one they really want. It just warms the cockles of your heart!!
