Question:

Why didn't McCain pick a VP worthy of being one?

I am befuddled by this choice. It's as if McCain thinks women are stupid or just will vote for anyone with ovaries. If this is a play for Hillary voters it was a total loss. Gov Palin has NOTHING in common with Hillary on any issues - they are complete opposites. She endorsed Pat Buchanan in 2000! Can you imagine anyone that believed in Hillary's ideals (healthcare, education, ending the war, etc) voting for this pro-life, anti-gun control woman?

McCain has so little respect for women that he is using this one - hey, she's young, a mommy (although can't figure out when she sees the kids), and attractive - she will never question him.

What I want to know is why, if he was serious about a woman, didn't he pick someone like Olympia Snowe (ME) or Kay Baily Hutchinson (TX) - or some other equally qualified experienced woman?

I know the Repubs are all over this but ask yourselves (honestly if possible) do you really really believe this woman is ready to be Commander in Chief if necessary? Can she sit down with world leaders? Do you truly think she is ready for this or would you prefer to have Joe Biden step in if needed?

  1. Open your mind. Snowe does not share McCain's core beliefs and Hutchinson doesn't want the job (she's said she wants the Texas Governor job.) Palin has been in local and state politics since 1992 in local and state offices from city council to Governor. Further, she has been successful (ending corruption, lowering taxes, and returning "Big Oil" profits to the people.)

Neither Obama nor Biden have ANY executive experience. Obama was a "community organizer", served a term as an Illinois Senator, and served somewhere around 147 days in the Senate before he left to run for President. Where is the depth of experience?

As for Joe Biden, he's done well in Delaware as a big fish in a small bowl. His first run for President ended before the first primary when he was caught plagiarizing a speech. This year he racked in around 2000 caucus votes in Idaho before he dropped out of the race. Do you suspect the country may be wary of the egotistic Biden?

As for your final question, I would trust the honest public servant Sarah Palin over the self serving Joe Biden any day. Governor Palin will quickly learn what she needs of foreign policy and could probably teach all of the others (including McCain) how to run a government.

  2. he picked a pawn .and that's all.she have been hired to sit their and make him look even more dumb than he already looks

  3. I see it as a good choice as there was way more negative opinions on his other potential runners.I dont thin any of the others had enough support from the people to add support to McCain.

Palin though is kinda like Obama. She's new, young, ambitious.

I think McCain did a good choice

  4. I'm not a woman, but yeah, I really can't imagine what h**l would occur if she became President and met with world leaders.

    This is wrap Obama  '08!!!!!!

  7. he is betting everything he's got with this one and with no pairs at all hoping that people are stupid enough to buy his bluff. What just happen here is the worst hand ever played. But coming from McCain nobody should be surprised. He just committed political suicide. He just let go of he last chance of being president not that he had much chance to begin with by now not only won't he win but he will lose by a landslide.

  8. I was here earlier today saying the same thing to people.  It's an obvious ploy for Hillary's supporters.  It's so insulting that McCain really thinks women are that pliable and that empty headed that they can't tell the difference between a right wing ex-beauty queen and Hillary Clinton.  Are you seeing these questions in here tonight?  Such as "Don't you think McCain picked a pretty woman to be VP?"  Oh My God.  I answered a question from one guy today who had the nerve to suggest that Democrats secretly hate women because they are criticizing Palin.  WTF?  We are criticizing her because she wouldn't make a pimple on Hillary's back end yet McCain thinks he can dangle her in front of us like we're morons who wouldn't care if she were a Wookie, just as long as she has ovaries.

He should have stuck with Lieberman.  If he wanted to bring in Hillary's leftovers he should have stuck with the idea of picking a pro-choicer.  Then he might have had a chance to sucker them.  But this?  It's ludicrous, and insulting.

And no, I can't even imagine this woman having to handle the burden of extremely complicated and razor edge foreign relations.  A governor for 21 months - is that right?  Is he serious?  At least Obama has been immersed in foreign relations issues since he joined the U.S. Senate.  This woman knows Alaska, and only Alaska.  And Biden has incredible bona fides.  I don't like the jokes about McCain's age - but I am really starting to wonder if he's not getting a touch senile if he thinks this move was a smart one.
