Why didn't edward let the venom go through her blood to make her a vampire?

i am reading twilight and i have just finished the part where edward sucks her blood getting rid of the venom.. and then Bella ask why he didnt just let her become a vampire so why didnt he? and what is she talking about when she says im betting on alice?

b/c he loves her and doesn't want her not to be able to experience being a human, but Edward will explain it more to Bella later on. Alice had a vision that Bella would be turned into a vampire, and Edward told Bella she wouldn't, so Bella's responds with "i'm betting on Alice". Saying: Alice saw it, so it will happen.

Edward doesn't want Bella to become a vampire, he wants her to have her full shot at humanity. She's betting on Alice because Alice sees her becoming a vampire. But Edward refuses to make her one, so Bella said that he's not the only vampire she knows. Anyone in the family can change her.

betting on alice... she's hoping alice will turn her into a vampire if edward won't.

becuase edward still didnt want to make her a vampire at that time. he was still debating cause he wanted her to have a normal human life. and what she means by 'im betting on alice' is that shes betting on alice to make her into a vampire

Edward wants her to have all the experiences of being human, because she's only got one shot at it. And she's betting on Alice because Alice saw her as a vampire. And if Edward refuses to turn her into a vampire, she can just ask someone else, since he's not the only vampire she knows.

Bella says she is betting on Alice because:

Edward was always tense around Alice, if you remember, and that is because Alice had a vision that Bella was a vampire. Edward knows how tricky her visions are, but he always relies on them. That is one vision he does not want to come true. Bella knows about it, so she is betting that Alice's vision will come true. She wants to be a vampire!
