Question:

Why didn't my auto body shop blend my fenders?

I paid an auto body shop to paint my hood and front bumper. Included in the estimate was blending paint and/or clear onto the fenders. They didn't do it and claimed "it wouldn't have looked as good blended because there were some chips in the paint and the match was good so they didn't have to do it." I know they painted the hood and bumper off the car because the paint goes under the hinge pieces and the paint dripped off the back corners of the hood. Could they have possibly ever thought about blending or did they mistake it for an insurance job and just plan from the beginning not to blend?

  1. call them and make them fix it

  2. If you have a breaking point you don't blend the paint. If it looks bad the colors don't match or your old paint is dull. The only time you blend paint is when you paint only half a panel with no break line.

  3. they didn't blend probably because it would have looked worse without fixing the chips. they knew that when they gave an estimate. whoever gave you the estimate didn"t know what they were doing or they thought it was an insurance job. that sounds like a bad business deal. they could fixed the chips for you and left the hood and bumper on the car. I woulsnt have blended either without fixing the chips, they should have contacted you about it.

  4. Take it to Judge Judy.
