  1. Do you mean the Y! Instant Messenger or the Y! Toolbar?

    Edit:

You can always use the Maranda IM. It's an all-in-one thing, with 100s of addons and plugins, kinda like the Mozilla project.

It don't do any hidden services or install stuff behind your back.

You can transfer automatically all of your buddies or contacts dead easy.

It don't write nothing to your registry and you can install it on one of them USB pendrives and carry it with you all of the time too.http://www.miranda-im.org

    Edit:

    To Burning Bright and WUSSY,

All you got to do is fire up "Options", scroll down to Yahoo! (Left column), click on that and fill in your name and password.

Miranda will try and connect to the Y! servers and automatically include all of your friends inside its main window.

Don’t you forget to press OK on that firewall alert.

Repeat the above procedure for MSN, IRC e.t.c.

That way once Miranda is up and running you can do multiple chatting using all of your contacts and buddies simultaneously.

It's a pretty straightforward configuration actually. Just you try it, OK?

  2. I also find this interesting.

If any one could ALSO e-mail me

for instructions (in idiot mode please!!) It'll be appreciated.

  3. How do you do that and still have access to YA?

Edit:  Please e-mail me with the instructions.  I don't understand techno talk, so please make it simple.

  4. Stainless Steel has very good advice for you. I also had this problem as my internet provider and Yahoo are partners, I have no way of getting Yahoo services off my PC. Yes, it also moved very slow. One thing you can also do is stop all updates from taking place. It's the updates that work in the background and slow your PC down. I did this which now makes my PC run smoothly. Here are the steps:

To do this with Windows, open up your hard drive (probably C:), and drill down through Program Files, Yahoo!, and finally Messenger. (Anybody out there with a Mac is invited to contribute parallel instructions.) Find the file called yupdater.exe and rename it to yupdater.bak, or some other non-executable extension. If you ever want or need to update Y!IM, rename the file back to its original, restart Messenger, and you should be good to go.

    Cheers!
