I still don't understand how an indoor volleyball league doesn't develop in the United States, where there is infraestructure, good players, good coaches, and so many people who play it.

  1. I think Volleyball could be huge in the U.S. Professional volleyball works in Europe because there are not as many competing professional sports as in the U.S.  the U.S. has Football, Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, Soccer, etc.  Even though the USPV didn't work in the U.S., I have to say that Volleyball is on the rise.  The AVP, NIRSA, NCAA, USA Volleyball, and all the Junior programs have grown considerably in the past couple of years.  If this continues, I think there could be professional vball in the next 15 years.

  2. Without sponsorship there is not enough money to support the league.  While there are pockets of fans in cities, the sport is not one that has reached the masses.  It could have worked as more of a regional league (i.e. SoCal or the Northeast) but there is not enough of a national base.

There is strong local support at the collegiate level for certain programs outside SoCal and the NE (Texas, Florida, etc.), but these markets probably would not support a pro level due to a lack of relationship with the team.

  3. no fans willing to pay...no sponsors willing to support
