Why didn't the people put July and august?

like in septagon there is sep that means september and in octagon the first three letters is oct that means october and why didn't the people put july and august can you please answer the question i will owe you some thing okay

Aug for august. and I think it has something to do with syllables where you can break up a word eg sep tem ber....

because its just one more letter to write for june and july, but i always put Aug. for August though.
