Why didn't we think of this before?

Question

Obama's reaction to the Russian-Georgia conflict was basically "STOP IT". Why didn't anyone think of that great foreign policy strategy before? We could have avoided WW2. Just told Hitler "STOP IT".

If Obama is attacked by a killer rabbit, will the Messiah order it to stop it? Or resort to Jimmy Carter's tactics?
