we grew beets, onions, several different peppers, eggplants, and tomatoes. everything except the beets did great, but the beets stayed small and i dont think theyre getting any bigger. my theory is that we planted them too close together. any tips for next year? i live near detroit. (theyre actually called "detroit beets" so what gives?)

  1. Aaah yes, the Detroit Red Beet is a wonderful variety.  There are a few things that may have gone wrong.

They were planted too close together

    The soil was too dense

You didn't let them grow long enough.

Soil was too alkaline (but in Michigan, I doubt that).
