  1. some cats are like people, just not the nurturing type. i am sorry for your loss. please get you kitty fixed so this won't happen again!

I'm sorry you lost the newborns, however some cats just don't have the motherly instincts that the majority have.  It sounds like yours was one of them.  I know a lot of cats who had babies and refused to nurse them.  The only way they survived was from the nursing that was given to them from a human.  It happens quite a lot actually, but it's not something you hear about all the time.

  3. Things don't always go well with the birth.  It may be that she just wasn't cut out to be a mother, and didn't want them.  Or she may have known that there was something wrong with the kittens, and allowed them to die.  In either case, get her spayed quickly, so that you don't have to go through this again.  She'll come back into heat quickly, and can get pregnant right away.
