  1. The Captain did get the ice warnings, he just choose to ignore them.

  2. according to the movie anyway, he knew of ice bergs coming up ahead but decided to sail through them because he was confident the ship couldn't be sunk and would smash through the ice

  3. Becase in does times it was like driving blind

  4. The ocean was completely calm that night. There was no moon and the sky was clear. The Captain had altered the Titanic's course around to try and avoid the ice burg, from which he had been warned of days before. Iceberg were considered to be quite normal for the time of year. Later that evening, another report of numerous, large icebergs in the Titanic's path was received, this time from the Mesaba, but this report also failed to reach the bridge. Although there were warnings, there were no operational or safety reasons to slow down or alter course. The Titanic had three teams of two lookouts high up in the crow's nest who were rotated every two hours, and on any other night it is almost certain they would have seen the iceberg in time.

  5. People say Bruce Ismay pressured him to increase speed and make it to New York earlier than expected. He probably got to his head and whenever he got ice warnings from earlier in the day he just ignored them. It was also very normal for icebergs to appear around that time of year so he probably thought of the ice warnings as nothing. They say that the wireless operators form the Titanic were communicating with other wireless operators from other ships and when receiving an ice warning from the Californian about there being icebergs close to the Titanic they just ignored it. That might be a few reasons why the messages never got to the captain.
