  1. Straight vegetable oil will clog filters and fuel injectors. Its not as good for fuel as biodiesel which is vegetable oil which has been treated to remove the glycerins. Any diesel engine can run on 100% biodiesel. All you need to do is make sure the fuel lines are not natural rubber and be prepared to change fuel filters frequently because biodiesel is a strong solvent that destroys rubber and loosens sludge from fuel tanks.

  2. It WAS cheaper to use than bio fuels.

Contrary to popular belief.  Bio fuel is not much cleaner than regular low sulfur diesel.  They both produce NOx and particle pollutions.

  3. because they're trying to avoid global warming... in doing that they have find the perfect thing that can make a car run without destroying anything

  4. Have you see what a quart of Wesson Oil cost?

    Think about it.

  5. I converted mine engine for $320.I have 2 tanks,and heat at 200 degrees.

Been running March and April for free 320 miles a week.Used just 10 gals diesel for purging.

  6. Not a mechanic but I imagine that a engine built to run on vegetable oil would preform sub optimal on the much more readily available petrodiesel.  Biodiesel is great for people to do on an individual basis but it could never replace fosil fuels at the rate we use them.

  7. All diesel engines can burn any oil including lube oil.

  8. vegetable oil needs to be hot to keep from gelling. and if you use used vegetable oil you need to filter the oil first, usually in several stages. there are systems you can buy that will allow you to run on straight vegetable oil, but you still have to start, and shut down on regular diesel or biodiesel, otherwise the vegetable oil will clog the fuel lines.

  9. It isn't the technology, it's the oils.  straight veggie oil has the inconvenient tendency to turn to gum when cold.

It should work when the temp is high enough since diesels will run on almost any liquid that will burn.

  10. We really don't need additional ways of burning groceries.
