Why do over the counter weight loss pills such as xenadrine and hydroxy-cut cause severe constipation? I used to take Hydroxy-cut daily for three years and never had probs. Now, I suffer from constipation when I try to start on them again. Please no answers telling me how bad diet pills are. I maintain a good diet and exercise and still weigh 60 lbs more than I should. 37 yr old male/6 ft tall/weigh 260 lbs.

  1. OK OK, I won't preach at you for supplementing with diet pills.  Nobody's perfect, not even me.

To answer your question as simply as possible...

Caffeine is a common ingredient if not the main ingredient in most diet supplements.  Caffeine is a well-known culprit of dehydration.

Dehydration is a major cause of constipation.

It would be wise to increase your water intake alongside these products to help reduce the chance of constipation.

  2. Three steps that have really helped me are dieting, exercising, and the correct weight loss supplement for losing weight. Focus on those three things and you will lose weight considerably. I exercise 30 mins a day along with taking Proactol, a natural weight loss supplement that I saved money on at theweightlossplace.com

Good luck and stay focused = )
