I hope your using the British term for someone having a hissy fit. If not, please edit your question. If so, well times are changing. I just heard my niece ask about where her father is and if he still loves her, why doesn't he come visit. And she's only 3! Kids these days know more at younger ages. Hope I helped.

If your question is about why they have tantrums then that is egocentric behavior.  They expect you to want for them the same thing that they want for them.  And They can't understand why you don't.  Literally they only see the world from their point of view.  It's the same reason they always try to show you something when they are talking to you on the phone.

well... teenagers like myself always want everything to go our way, we want to be in control, if we dont like it we strop- its like prooving a point, personally i go to my room and put my music on loud (so it annoys my mum) little kids are the same they too want to get there own way there used to being with their mothers and fathers for the first major years in there life, since the verry first day they've been centre of attention and now the parents are getting there 'freedom' back because the child is getting older, the child seems to pick up on this and tries to get back the attention. if a teenager cant go out with her friends she strops, if a toddler cant play with his toys they strop. see the simalriaty?
