Why is 786 named 786? It was explained somewhere else, but I still don't get it. Thanks!

And for those who don't know who 786 are, they are a band, who are muslims, and sing songs for muslims.

  1. there is no such thing 786 in islam. u cant find even a single verse of Quran which tells u any thing about 786. its the astrologist who think 786 are the lucky number because bismilla has 786 numbers.

  2. Using 786 as a holy number is Bid'ath

  3. I have not heard of 786, but how can u make a band group named 786, when singing is not even allowed in Islam? Islam didn't spread to people through songs, but rather through nice speech and character, which im sure even the singers probably lack.

  4. 786 stands for Bismillah Ar Rahman Ar Rahim

  5. This system of writing is known as ABJADI, representing lettrs with numerical value. If all lettrs in Bismillah......... then you get 786

    In the Abjadi system, the first letter of the Arabic alphabet, alif, is used to represent 1; the second letter, bāʼ, is used to represent 2, etc. Individual letters also represent 10's and 100's: yāʼ for 10, kāf for 20, qāf for 100, etc.

    ā/' ا 1 y/ī ي 10 q ق 100

    b ب 2 k ك 20 r ر 200

    j ج 3 l ل 30 sh ش 300

    d د 4 m م 40 t ت 400

    h ه 5 n ن 50 th ث 500

    w/ū و 6 s س 60 kh خ 600

    z ز 7 ` ع 70 dh ذ 700

    H ح 8 f ف 80 D ض 800

    T ط 9 S ص 90 Z ظ 900

        gh غ 1000

    some letters and values scrabbled

  6. To the best of my knowledge it is used by Urdu speaking Muslims of the world and can be substituted for Bismillah-ar-rahman-ar-rahim in letter writing.

  7. yes, they write it for Bismillah. but thats wrong. It has got no Islamic value because if Quranic words were to be converted in to numbers then whole Quran could be in numbers naudobillah. So, its all bad and is mostly practiced in India, Pakistan, which is wrong. Its a myth.Allah has stated in the Holy Qur'an that the evidence of the love of the Prophet lies in obeying him.

    Allah Says (Interpretation of meaning): (Say (O Muhammad to mankind), if you (really) love Allah, then follow me. Allah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful).

    We should avoid all kinds of myth and innovation, awake up people's awareness to give them up, and we must do our best to refute them. Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) said: "If somebody tries to introduce into this faith of ours (Islam) something, which is not a part of it, is to be rejected (and that person is condemned)". [Bukhari and Muslim].

    Rest Allah knows the best~!

  8. Some say it stands for Bismillah ar-rehman nir-raheem but I would say that it has nothing to do with Islam. Prophet Mohammad PBUH never wrote 786 neither it is found in Quran. Its not an Islamic tradition.

  9. 786 is used instead of Bismillah.

    I suppose the group thinks it can make Halal music by calling it Bismillah.

  10. 786 is derived by assigning hexadecimal numbers to the alphabets in the Arabic text of Bismillah Ar Rahman Ar Rahim

    Alif = 6

    Baa = 12

    Taa = 18

    and so on.

    Someone with lots of time on their hands and nothing in their brain came up with this bright idea.

    It carries no significance in Islam sister.

  11. it is used for Bismillah, it is from abjad, which means each alphabet has his own numbers!!

    people just writes it for shortcut but it would be good to write the whole Bismillah!! but not Islamic!!

  12. 786' is an aggregation of the numbers of Hindu 'Lord Hari Krishna'. H(a)iri Kr(i)shna

    CAN NUMBER 786 REPLACE THE HOLY NAME OF GOD? The innovation of writing '786' replacing 'Bismillah Hirahmaan Niraaheem' has been adopted for a long time and the majority of the Ummah is still indulged in it advertently.

    Apart from the common folk, the scholars also heed no attention towards it and to avoid disrespect to the Holy Words they use it in their letters and documents. They adopt it as 'correct' and 'better' way to invite Allah's

    blessings and have also started replacing the Holy Words by this number on their houses, offices, buildings, etc. Unfortunately, this tendency is gradually gaining momentum. But, do we see this number instead of the Holy Words in the Holy Qur'aan? Or, can we write it there as well? can we remove 'Bismillah Hirahmaan Niraaheem' from the top of Surah al-Faatiha and replace it with the number 786? Obviously not. If we study the Qur'aan, we see it carries the holy words in a letter from Prophet Solomon (pbuh) to the Queen of Sheeba -Bilqis - who was an infidel at that time. Even Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) in his letters to different heads of states and governments, used the holy words at the top.

    Therefore, whosoever uses 786 with the intention to obtain Allah's blessings, is a misguided person and any attempt to justify it, is ignorance. More astonishing is that fact that '786' is an aggregation of the numbers of Hindu 'Lord Hari Krishna'. H(a)iri Kr(i)shna

    h-5, r-200, r-10, k-20, r-200, sh-300, n-50, a-1 =Aggregate of 786

    Thus, the aggregate number of these letters (Hari Krishna) equals 786. This is also the case of 'Bismillah Hirahmaan Niraaheem'. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid using this number to avoid the danger of being indulging in infidelity. Islam's foundation is laid on the belief in Tawheed (oneness of God). If we associate anyone with Allah's exalted names orally or practically, we would be committing infidelity that is an unpardonable sin.

    The Qur'aan warns us, one who finds a rival against Allah, Allah will never allow him to enter paradise, and his abode is the h**l. The letters by the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) to non-Muslim Kings and chiefs bear the holy words 'Bismillah Hirahmaan Niraaheem'. This was also the case of his noble companions. Did the Prophet (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) and his companions respect the Holy Words less than we do? Was the verse, 'Today I completed your religion for you', revealed to the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) or to the socalled scholars of our age who are all bent to amend the Divine principles.

    Now, when it became known that '786' is written in place of Hindu, 'Lord Krishna', and has no significance in the Holy Qur'aan and Sunnah, it is obviously an innovation and goes against the Divine doctrine of 'Obey Allah and His Prophet'. Similarly, some Muslims replace Allah's name by the number '66' and the Prophet's name by '92'. But if one ask, the number '420' is used against somebody's name and he is called '420'.Can he bear such an insult? Calling someone by a nick name is a sin. Allah Ta'ala says, 'Don't call one another by nick names'. If Allah prohibits the use of nicknames for fellow human beings, how can He allow the use of such insulting replacement number for Himself and His Prophet (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam).

  13. the only thing i can think of is "7 ate 6" ...

  14. It has no meaning in Islam at all. People who think that it brings fortune and it's a righteous act are mistaken.

    that would be shirk and bidah.
