Why do America bother with Gold Medal matches?

They seem to get awfully excited by winning these Gold Medal matches. I mean, I thought all medals were worth exactly the same thing according to the American version of the Medal Tally.

  1. China has a lot more GOLD medals so China should be number 1, US 2nd. You can look at the YAHOO sites in Mexico, French, Germany, Australia, Japan, Spain. They all have China first. But the US Yahoo site shows differently. Strange.


  2. Awfully bitter dont you think? Mate im an aussie and if they get excited for winning gold then good on them. Just like when australia made a huge fuss over the girls winning gold in the pools.

  10. who wouldnt get excited about a gold medal match? the athletes have nothing to do with the yahoo medal count. AND the "american version of the medal tally" is counting by TOTAL and GOLD. click around.
