  1. I asked my father that the first time I heard the description of the WS winner as World Champion.  I never used it.

    Until 2004 when I could most proudly say...

    The World Champion Boston Red Sox


  2. My guess would be because they have some of the worlds best playing for the baseball championship.

  3. Because when it first begain in the early 1900s, professional baseball was only played in the U.S.

  4. because when baseball began to play their championship series, no other country in the world was playing baseball, so they called it the World Series.  Now that other countries are playing baseball, of course you shouldn't take it literally, but after 100 years you can't just simply change the name...
