Why do Americans confuse supporting the Troops, and supporting the governments decision to attack?

I strongly support our troops......support them coming home from this War.

My brother just got back from Iraq, after hearing his stories and checking on you tube to see what other soldiers think. It is too obvious that this war is for money. He explained how they would destroy their own vehicles instead of making simple repairs and taxes would just buy another one. Or how he was forced to turn in his laundry to KBR where they would wash it and charge the Tax payers $99 a load. He also explained how it seems that we are trying to intervene in a civil war that has been going on for decades.

Commanders threaten soldiers "If you want to see your family, freinds or girlfriend again you better go and destroy that city".

If you really supported our troops, you would educate yourselves in what is really going on. Start by doing a search on youtube for "iraq" and see what actual soldiers feel about this war?

  1. When you oppose the mission you embolden the enemy, and that leads to more of our troops being killed.  And if that's your idea of supporting our troops, then I hope you never support me.

If they didn't want to go, they didn't have to sign up for the military in the first place.  It's an all volunteer force.  You should respect their decision, instead of undermining it.

  2. Soldiers are people have chosen to put thier life on thier line to serve thier country.  They have been given a very difficult job to do, they have made tremendous sacrifices in trying to complete that mission.

Supporting them means helping them to succeed, not forcing them to fail.  It means honoring the sacrifices that have been made instead of throwing them away.

If the war were genuinely being lost on the ground - if our military was outmatched and being decimated and had no hope of victory - then, yes, the right thing to do would be to pull them out.  But that's not what's happening, the war is being lost here, at home, by those who aren't fighting it, merely jumping on a political bandwagon.

  3. Oh, yeah...YOUTUBE is a fair and balanced place to get information!  Dude, nobody likes war.  Sometimes it is a necessary evil.  Not supporting the decision to go to war is not an option.  The commander-in-chief sent down orders and its a soldiers duty to obey them, not question them.  The only thing we can do is pray for the safe return of all our men and women in combat and support them while they are gone.

  4. You can't support the decision to attack.  Impossible. There is NOTHING to support such a moronic decision, only the plan of a few power drunk criminals (puppeteers) pulling the strings of their pet moron, GWB.

I feel very sorry for anyone that wakes up every day in iraq.  What a nightmare.  Still, that is the risk they ran when they bent over for uncle sam (generally when they were young and stupid) as he dangled college tuition, travel and other goodies in front of them.  It's a lot like the pied piper leading the children away with a flute.  Sad.

Moral of the story?  Teach your children that to give up their freedoms is tantamount to giving up their lives, whether its to their government or a foreign invader.

  5. It's a shame how they have our military fighting for Iraq instead of fighting for America.

And you're right , too many conservatives say you don't support the troops if you don't support the war. And it's NOT the same thing. Conservatives just want to distract your attention from the real issues bu trying to paint everything in black and white.

  6. I guess the same people confuse supporting pregnant women with supporting abortion.

Many pro-life types will tell you that the support women, and want to prevent them from making bad decisions.

In each case, though, I believe the object of such "support" doesn't feel that the people focused on them are truly helping them - just the opposite.

  7. You just don't get it

The troops themselves support the war, that's why they voulenteered for it

  8. Because Mayberry Machiavelli\Pseudochristian Virtuecrats have attempted to tie support for the President into support for the troops.

If you don't support Bush, his agenda, you don't say nice things about Bush then you don't support the troops.

Their current theoretic is the troops support the war.. tell that to my sons who are currently serving in Iraq!  Some do and some don't.

Currently what little support Bush still has left is from a small but vocal group still hoping that Bush will carry out their domestic social/economic agenda.

The way the Cons define sucess is a WWII style victory... not gonna happen

  9. The smart people like us will say "I support the troops... Not the war"... I say that anytime anyone asks me about or mentions it.

Wish I could find a bumper sticker that said that.

  10. We all support our troops.  I personally don't know of anyone that does not.............. It's the lies that were rammed down our throats that we hate, and some people just don't want to admit they were duped by this administration.  Self pride I guess at the expense of our brave troops. Anyone in his/her right mind could tell the government was lying to us when they were ranting and raving on the TV BEFORE they sent in our troops (Neighbors, relatives, friends.)

Bush should just have a news conference, admit the lies and deceptions and resign. If he was honest and indeed sorry for what he did, even I could forgive him.  Just be a man about it.  The only problem is that then we would have Chaney !  Oh well, the voters get what they vote for I guess. Lets pray that the electorate think a little more thoroughly before the '08 elections.

I saw a bumper sticker about a year ago that read:

"We support our troops........bring them home!"

    I agree.

And God bless our brave men and women over there just doing what their boss orders them to do. My heart goes out to them and their loved ones.

  11. More propaganda.  Question is wheter it is AQ or stateside?

If you want to know the truth about this war, with no politics, from a combat veteran that has been there to both battlefields, read my blog.  If you are too afraid to know our enemy or if you are too afraid of having your political beliefs shaken, do not read it.

  12. Because there is a strong element of the "Peace Movement" that hates all things military. They hated the military before the troops were sent to Iraq and they will hate the military after they come back. Its hard to believe them when they say we support the troops when their actions and beliefs say something different.

  13. I hope that some of us have learned a lesson regarding this very thing from the Vietnam vets.  More so than today, in many people's minds, the war and the soldiers were the same thing.  We did not welcome them home and treat them as heroes. Not then.

And now we can see what that has done to the Vietnam vets.  They went through a horrible experience, and were pretty much ignored when they came back.  We did not want to hear about it, we did not want to know about it.  We wanted to forget about it.

Let's don't do the same thing with our soldiers of today.

Yes, I support the troops - the soldiers.  Not the war.
