Why do Americans demand the freedom of Tibet. But ignore the need to free California from American clutches?

Which Americans are demanding freedom of Tibet? A tiny minority of wackos? The vast majority could care less. And if you want California, you can have it. Tell them I said so.

Because the Tibetans are being abused and are asking for independence, but California has never once requested soveriegnty.

California doesn't want to be freed from the US.  

Californians are ethnically and culturally pretty much the same as the rest of the US.  There are only minor regional differences, not major language, cultural, and religious differences thousands of years old.
