Why do Americans in the NORTHEAST and on the WEST COAST have so much better a perspective than others do?

In 2000 and 2004, Americans in New York and the New England states as well as those in Washington, Oregon, and California all stood solidly against George W. Bush, understanding exactly what his evil agendas were all about and refusing to go along with his dishonesty, his corruption, and his incompetence . Today the people of all of those states still stand united against all the weaknesses of the Republican party that have put this country into such dire straits and made it the laughing stock of the world and a prime target for terrorism.

What is it that the people of the northeast, and of Washington, Oregon, and California know that most of the rest of the country fails to understand?

You know little about those states. It is the conservatives in those states that are keeping the economies running. Without them then the states would be broke.

California is over $15 billion in debt this year because of Democrats. And if Republicans left the state then the state would turn into another Mexico.

The truth is that 33% of the US population lives within 100 miles of I-95 between Boston and Washington DC.  Another 25% of the US population lives along I-5 between San Diego and Seattle.

We don't have a better perspective than the rest of the US, but we live in  congested areas and the things that gov't should & shouldn't do can differ from what the other 42% of americans who live in rural and agricultural areas need and want gov't to do.

well, most of the medi is centered in the new england area, i myself, one of that region, also believe that bush is devil incarnate, but this, ive believed since the re election, i knew he was gonna f*ck up america sooner or later, so yea, the media and also the influence of everybody else, since these are the most densely populated areas in america

We come from all parts of the world and we see Bush for who he really is! The others well I won't go there but let's just say that religion might have a lot to do with it! Just look at who they had singing at their convention!

Success = education, knowledge and a clearer view of what the score is.

These states r obviously pretty rich, organised and people speak their minds.

One thing I found very strange about these american elections (I'm not american) is that the word ''LIBERAL'' is taken as something bad,.. as a sort of insult.

We have the highest concentration of colleges and top tier universities, hence more of the people here are highly educated.  Of course, there are millions of highly educated people all over this great country, but most people on the west coast and in the Northeast are highly educated.

Therefore there is generally a higher population of college educated people. College educated people tend to be more liberal and therefore, lean towards Democrats.

That does not, however, mean that they are smarter than people in the Midwest.

I hate to say it because I live in the South and love it here, but the majority of the Southern (read: non diverse, conservative population) states voted Republican.

most major cities in the USA have had democratic controlled city council and mayor for most of the last 50 years.

And look at how well that works out?

People in the northeast and west coast are idealists.  They don't really understand how the democratic party conspires to keep minorities and women dependant on their services, on big governement, and wealth redistribution.
