Why do Americans make fun of Canadians ?

i am an immigrant here and i was surprised at some remarks made by Americans about Canadians and i don't understand why. They are friendly people and they like Americans. Is it just making fun of them as a joke because it is like a rival country just like some universities might make fun of other universities because of competition? or what?

Some people have strange ways of welcoming others. They probably think that it is alright because they themselves have had it happened to them.

This just goes to show the lack of education of culture and tradition of other people elsewhere.

Those are probably the same Americans that say they are Canadian while traveling abroad.

I do not understand there need to make fun of us either, but there it is. They dont like it that we have so much land i guess. Who can really say? they all have there different reasons.
