Because you don't keep terrorists in a general prison population somewhere although that would be a fast way to rid us of that problem.  I'd give them about 5 minutes in a U.S. prison.................

Strategic location....  our military can control all approaches from every direction.  If terrorists try to help their comrades - EVERY body will notice.  They won't even need to leave the light on.

Try to sneak in there and free a terrorist - it'd be harder than finding a politician who isn't a crook.....

Think about it You hate a country and a people You go on for hours how much you want to destroy their system and all the time their military is right on your land It's has to be humiliating to them and that is the point of it all

The military base at Guantanamo is the result of our victory in the Spanish-American War.  After that we helped to set up a new government in Cuba and they agreed for us to have a military base there.  After the Castro revolution we kept our base there.

The prison was added after the 9/11 attacks.
