somethings we dont bring on ourselves but alot of things americans, and humans for that matter, blame things on something else never taking responsiblity for their own actions why? Why does Bush have to blame iraq so he can get oil? Why do we blame our problems on God, prejudice actions some of us dont experience, no chance for education when federal grants are there? Why?

  1. We're too 'proud' of our country to muster up enough confidence to admit we're 90% of the time wrong.

Plus, a majority of us are too lazy to want to back up anything we say, or think about it too much.

  2. Because it's too hard to fix the problems created by the bureaucracy and there is an inherent arrogance about the US all around. America are too powerful. They put their hands in too many pies they don't quite understand and then get a rude shock when they find out the filling is quite hot.

Take for example...Saddam was in the way of cheap oil which was becoming increasingly expensive and his presence in the Middle East threatened regional security thus the price of oil. Saddam had weapons to fight the US as he was given weapons to fight Ayatollah Khomeni of Iran. Ayatollah was there because Iranians were sick of having a secularist government under the Shah, who was put there by the US government. Now he was put there to maintain Britain (and America's) corporate oil interests in Iran, because Iran wanted to nationalise oil. The reason why the US is so dependent on oil is because it needs that money for transport and freight and passenger travel, as the US is one of countries in the world with many major cities lacking good public transport. This is because transport such as Tramcars were ripped up by private operators. The reason public transport was corporatised was because of America's corperate ethic and attitude by government that somehow market failure DOES NOT EXIST.

I think Michael Moore's film SICKO has proven that it DOES and that as with many of Nixon's other experiments such as privatising the Postal System (adding days of processing time to packages and making security against anthrax that much harder) it was a BAD idea. Not finishing conversion to Metric was a BAD idea. Not listening to Jimmy Carter in '77 about getting off a reliance on oil was a BAD idea. Other countries recognise that all these ideas are GOOD ones. Socialised medicine, public postal systems, the metric system, and reducing reliance on fossil fuels- I think we can tick all of those off for Britain, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Sweden, Finland....And if the world can't move forward on Kyoto, or Metric well...I'm looking the US's way.

The attitude seems to be, "I can't be bothered, it won't affect me and even if it does I don't have to acknowledge it, wait, i just d**n WON'T acknowledge it because I'm big enough for someone not to look down on me."

  3. ask George Bush

  4. Because we Americans as a society are all spoiled rotten brats who take everything for granted.

  5. Personally I think it's all your fault.

  6. I agree with N. Cognito, and that is an excellent article she posted. *sm*

  7. Why does everyone say the war was for oil, if it was then I want the price down.

Since according to you it was over oil, why is it $100 dollars a barrel?

It looks like the libs need to get some new bumper sticker slogans to generalize the war.

  8. What is your proof we are there for oil.  We seem pretty busy trying to kick the al qaeda ba**ards out to give the Iraqi's peace.  Also, we are paying full market price for our oil like everyone else.

  9. You seem to be practicing a lot of blame here, you do not speak for me and I am a full blooded American.

  10. Figure out why the Germans elected Hitler to Chancellor, and you'll have a better understanding of how such things happen.

  11. because as a rule everyone is too weak to admit thier wrongs. It began with adam and eve. He blamed eve, she blamed the serpent, he blamed god for giving him the woman. Who did that leave for the serpent ot blame? It is called the blame game and there will be no end to it during our time on earth.

  12. could you possibly generalize more?

no one here speaks for all americans.  i know it's all trendy and hip to ***** about america and americans, but it's just downright ignorant to assume that all americans feel and do the exact same things.
