  1. Globalization, plus regardless of what other countries say they all want what we have.

  2. I think a lot of countries arent forced but are just picking up on it. I live in the Netherlands and here we have something called "Americanising of Society". When you talked about America 15 years ago, people here would say "Oh yeah I heard they have 30 tv channels and all eat with their plate on their lap in front of the TV", and now we too have 30 channels and eat in front of it :p Thats called Americanising of Society here. Also America is everywhere, on the billboards you see Coca Cola ads in English, the movies are from the USA, the TV Shows, it's everywhere, so it's no wonder it also affects the culture. All the cool words here are from America, like "cool" for instance :p Everyone uses it here, and they dont do that with french or german words.

  3. Big business want more profit profit profit.

  4. Good question. Presumably they think that the rest of the world is unhappy because of their unamericannes (spelling?) (which by the way according to their views has nothing to do with the continent but only the US).  They think that tyranny exists only outside the US while stating that it is their gov. who forces their way into other nations and not they, the american people.  But, wait, isn't such government chosen by the people?  That is what they boast so much about, democracy (which I support) when in fact they are alienating themselves from their government, well, they chose it through their exemplary democracy.

Anyways, good question it is surely polemic.  I don't think we will ever know for real.

What I like about the US is the Rocky mountains though, and their desserts, very beautiful.  Our planet is beautiful. We need to be more peaceful.

  5. (sorry for the VERY VERY basic ,general and somehow blind answer)

Well, basically in the early 1900s our country was proudly saying  "Oy! look at our great country over here, we have freedom, anyone can come, etc.!" Once that happened people wanted to live the "American Dream" which made us americans "do what we want when we want" a default in our minds. But now in the more recent years, china and india (major population zones) want in on the "American Dream" in their lands too. Which is a cause of our terrible resource shortage of basically everything. So now, these 2 continents, (Asia , N. America) are living life to the fullest. Because every resource america does not have, Asia will get.

P.S. I'm not saying Asia is going to become the new Cobra Force from GI Joe

  6. It's not all Americans, there are some that believe there is a dominant culture that needs to be imposed on others for their own good--hence, value imposition and interpretation of others' actions, and/or beliefs within their own value system. Some people simply have not learned to mind their own business and respect other's privacy.

  7. I don't Idc how anyone else lives. It's not my problem. I'M not forcing anything on anyone.

  8. I don't think one can make a generalized assertion like this, but it does seem to be true about corporations that are American based, establishing roots in countries where there is an economic benefit to do so (bye bye, American Jobs!).  One could further make the assertion, then, that these same corporations do not tend to do well in countries that are not some semblance of a democracy (Cuba, for example, or any of the more fundamental Muslim States. This latter consideration is not without great cost, particularly in Iraq where the possibility of profit from oil trumps any regard for human life), so in this regard, part of any world corporation agenda then, is to set the stage for their "occupation" by encouraging democratic governments (like America's) to "force their way of life unto the world."

As for my American relatives in the midwest, they pretty much have the philosophy to "live and let live," which isn't a bad one, I think...

  9. America was supposed to be created under ideals of acceptance under Christian ideals, while the wall seperating the powers of church and state is still being built one brick at a time. Although freedoms are continuously being granted under these emendments, this acceptance does not extend to those that are not directly or indirectly controlled by the US governmental bodies through international trade tariffs. On the other hand, while domestic freedoms are continuously achieved, we are also seeing breakdowns of the family unit structure and a rapidly growing decline in natural resources, so where do we win? Time will only tell....

  10. The american government wants to force people in other countries to do things.  Talk to most americans and they will tell you they are agains most of the ideals of their government.  Whatever comes out of america is mostly lies anyway.  Our government is just here for power and money, not to help their people.

  11. Americans dont want to force their way of life on others. They just want all the rest of the worlds resources and keep them as slaves to keep our way of life going.

  12. Yes, in as much as the government represents Americans.  But, perhaps some so envious of the US should take a closer look-see of America.

America is a state the is in a downward spiral from which it may not recover.  Corporate America has not only taken many thousands of manufacturing jobs out of America but it is beginning to get rid of many other jobs of higher education.  Many companies are forced by econimics or plain greed to out source many engineering, computer, design etc jobs to other countries where the rate of pay falls very short of that demanded by an American in America.

One out of every American lives in jail or penitentiary.  This is a huge number among the G-8 members.

In many parts of the country in virtually every city the law on the street is that of legal guns illegally attained.  It has sometimes been described as a 'shooting gallery'.

Drugs are rampant among Americans.  Teenagers are at constant risk.

But, the big reality is that America wants to change other countries only for that of American Interests.  They don't give a tinker's d**n about another countries society and they have proved over and over that democracy is not what they want 'gift' other nations;  it's about what America wants to gift itself.

  13. We are so happy that we want to make every one else happy also.

  14. No we are not forcing our way of life onto anybody. The United States has global interests to protect and sometimes that requires tough measures. Did you forgot all the help the United States gave to suffering countries since 1945. Who gives the most to Africa? It is America. In fact, there was a study that indicated "American people are the most helpful people in the world." So maybe the current administration has done some damage as far as our relationship with the world is concern, but other than that, we are cool people.

  15. Is that what you think we're doing? We're not forcing anything, we're helping out your third world country.

If our help in unappreciated, you can find your own fresh water.

    EDIT

    score at the moment

    political correctness enthusiasts 4

    right minded people 5

  16. Americans don't the American Government does.

  17. The actual "Americans" dont want to force anything. It is the American politicians that force democracy amongst the rest f the world. I am a live and let live person and dont think we should be involved in anyone else's government.

  18. Since the end of WWII (actually since the start of the Spanish-American War) the US Government has had a foreign policy of intervention. The Federal government sells this policy to the public by saying we are "making the world safe for democracy."

In doing so millions have died.

The real question is; have we made the world safe for anyone?

  19. why does the rest of the world come over here and expect us to learn their language because they are lazy and don't want to learn ours? (mexico etc.)

  20. doesn't every country?  i mean, maybe the people trying to do this think it's the best way of life and others could benefit from it.

  21. because we are God.!!!

or at less we think it`s our duty to rule the world!

  22. its not just americans ethnocentrism teaches each group of individuals that their way of life is the "right way" its a global social problem.

  23. It's the Islamic Fascist that want to force Shariah Law on the rest of the world.  The US just wants to live in peace.

  24. I as an American don't want to force my way of life unto the world.  I am pretty much ok with things unless they are hurting another person or myself.  We do believe in freedom and anti terrorism.  Our government does tend to be a bit over-zealous though.  You should not base your opinion on a government body, but the people you meet in person.  As in every culture, you will meet great, good and even horrible people, but that does not make that country bad.

  25. I don't agree with the premise of your question.  We don't force anyone to do anything.  We know, from experience, that freedom of choice is the best for everyone.  So we advocate freedom over tyrrany.  That is a very good thing to do.

  26. Because we have a voice and it should be used. There are many countries out there that can not speak up against their government, no matter how they are treated. Look at Africa. Africa has so many ways to make money and a lot of the poverty could be prevented if they had a government that wasn't corrupt. Every country in Africa is corrupt. Wouldnt you want someone to stand up for you?

  27. If you are in America... I would guess THAT is the reason. You know, "When in Rome, do as...". LOL

  28. they think their way is the best way! they dont want the world to be different

  29. We don't, unless you boil our way of life down to the right to choose.

  30. I don't want to force my way of life on anyone.

But as to America and the world... well, they keep asking us for help when what they are doing doesn't work, so the best way for us to help them is to show them what works for us.

  31. Most americans don't, but the 'world police' attitude that our government insists on keeping is a result of the interpretation of the Monroe docterine that Throdore Roosevelt took. He expanded the Monroe docterine into the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe docterine. It asserts the right of the United States to intervene and stabilize the economic affairs of small nations in the Caribbean and Central America if they were unable to pay their international debts. It has since been expanded to include the middle east. Culture-wise it is mass media that brings American way of life to other parts of the world - not the citizens.
