You're the fattest nation on earth now and the media in the U.S. loves it. All the comedy shows are makin fun of fat Australians.

You're the FATTEST nation on earth, facts are facts, so why are so many Australians denying it? Oh yeah, I guess it's because you're too busy stuffing your faces with hamburgers to realize how fat you really are.

  1. People who can't take a joke- she's messing with you lol just teasing don't get your wand in a knot.

  2. You're probably the one stuffing your face with fries right now.

Keeping in mind that America is a whole lot bigger in population, so you actually have more overweight people.

You're also just proving that you're lacking in the brain department.

  3. im not fat

  4. I'm Australian and I'm quite cranky that no-one told me there was a national campaign of denial going on!

I must have been distracted by all the TV shows about hyper obese Americans who are trapped in their houses.

  5. Well, I weigh 55kg (about 8 stone 10), am 5ft 5in and if you put all three of my kids together, you wouldn't get one obese child. My daughter and I visit Maccas (an institution which was actually perpetrated on us by ... America) on Friday nights as an end-of-week treat, otherwise we have an excellent diet. So I'm doing my bit.

The rest of the population have their own free will and plenty of information available on nutrition, and if they don't choose to follow it, that's their own decision. I certainly wouldn't get so uptight as you seem to be. Why are you so defensive - are you just slightly overweight yourself, maybe?

Poor, poor loudmouths - you are wasting your time and effort laughing at others while your own country collapses around your ears. At least our Australian economy is in excellent shape, despite your best (worst?) efforts to pull us down with you. Being marginally less obese than us isn't going to save you.

PS I suppose if you're all laughing at Australians, at least it means that you have finally realised that there is at least one country outside your own.

  6. I don't think they're denying it at all.  The girl in the pic doesn't look as if she even knows or cares that she's a bit "round".  She obviously doesn't suffer from a poor self-image, and THAT'S what counts.

If the Australians are fat, I guess it is because of their laid-back lifestyle: relaxed and low stress levels.  They enjoy life and it's showing up on their bodies.  Oh well...

Like Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) said: "Let's throw another shrimp on the barbie, mate!"

Stress only makes you look gaunt, and ages you before your time - life's too short!

  7. Well I have heard the opposite here on the news, saying America is in a crisis with overweight people and obesity?.

  8. i would rather be a fat ozzy than a thin american , least they are not the most hated people on the planet

  9. American comedy is an oxymoron. And the people laughing at others' misfortune are just morons.

  10. australians deny that they are now the fattest nation on earth because they do not understand the nature of statistical analysis.

not all people are smart. and many people are intellectually lazy, as well as physically lazy. and let's face it, some people are just stupid.

now, while australians are aware that as a nation australia has an obesity problem, when they look around they see that the proportion of morbidly obese people in australia is lower than the proportion or morbidly obese people in the united states. they also see the the proportion of obese people in australia is also lower than the proportion of obese people in the united states. therefore the australian people think that it is quite clearly untrue that australians are the fattest people on the planet.

however, the australian people do not observe that in the united states there is a higher percentage of undernourished people. the australian people do not realise that there are more people in the united states who cannot afford to feed there families.

because in australia more workers recieve fair pay, and because social security in australia helps people who are unable to work, and because health care is available free of charge in australia there is a much smaller proportion of people in australia who are undernourished.

intellectually lazy people and people with poor reasoning skills who do not understand statistical analysis are easily confused. they do not realise that although there are a higher proportion of both obese and morbidly obese people in the united states than in australia, that there is also a higher proportion of undernourished people in the united states has the corresponding effect of lowering the national average. although there are a higher number of fat people in the u.s. the statistically average australian is indeed fatter than the statistically average american.

  11. Simply because Americans have more fat people -but the tally is population wise. i haven't heard any people in aus denying it, its quite the opposite, we're embracing it, c'mon Aussie's were beating USA. ahaha

  12. I don't know any of us who are denying this fact.

As you say facts are facts.

Most people I know find this to be very disturbing.

It's one thing we don't want to be beating the USA at.

Why are you so vitriolic about this?

  13. Source: New York Daily News, 19-Jun-08.

A new study found that 26 percent of Aussies are overweight, prompting one newspaper to breathlessly claim that Australia is now the fattest country in the world.

    However, from: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,3851...

In a study of the USA, overall, about 26 percent of the respondents were obese, according to the study, published this week in CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.

It seems that we are about the same, according to reports from the USA.

However, an over-abundance of food, is blamed for the expansion in Australian waistlines.  Maybe we should ban MacDonalds, KFC and all those other fat inducing foods that are slipping into our society ?
