  1. rear wheel drive puts a little more rubber on the road

    up front tires have less weight and can be a little slimmer for better steering


  2. Wider tires in the back induce slight understeer, which means car does not turn as fast as if it had the same size tires/rims all the way around.  

    BMWs are tuned for sporty driving, and this prevents the average person from spinning out too easily when driving very aggressively.
