  1. So since he is half black ...everything negative has to be thrown off onto black people?!! Is that what your saying?!! Well you deserve to get your *** kicked! And are you blind??? How many people have brought such a sense of hope to not just blacks but also to many other minorities in this country such as Martin Luther King Jr, and Barack have done??? THAT is why there is a comparison! I mean, dayum even Stevie Wonder could see that through Ray Charles eyes!!!! And since your probably not a minority you won't ever get that!

  2. Black people are not comparing Obama to Martin Luther King. Obama gave his acceptance speech on the anniversary of Martin Luther King's " I Have a Dream" speech. And as far as the t-shirts, it doesn't mean anything at all. Ever read those sarcastic political comics in the morning newspaper... oh wait, you probably have never read a newspaper... never mind. Anyway, that's the significance between Obama and MLK.

  3. He is another dymanic black speaker, who fills the people with hope and purpose and direction and the ability to get to that destination

  4. Umm not all black people hun. Obama does not advocate black right or anything like that. I know PEOPLE (not just blacks) that do say that Obama is a good speaker like MLK(RIP). And BTW this is a big deal in the black community. Obama is making history.

  5. The Democrats are pushing a lot of "linkages" with MLK, and JFK, etc. It is a normal part of any promotional campaign to do this.  A presidential campaign is no different.

  6. The reason he may be compare to Marting Luther is because he speak of change and is very positive.  And Obama plays by his own rules!

As a black person I want to say "I am Black and I am Proud "!  M

  7. I saw one of those tee shirts.  It has Barack Obama's face set against a background of MLK giving the "I Have a Dream" speech.  I think a lot of the recent comparison between the two is because Obama gave his speech at the DNC on the anniversary of MLK's most famous speech.  However, I have heard the JFK comparison more often.

  8. They actually don't, two different individuals.

I love it when a non-black person ask a question in behalf of black people.

This question makes a much sense as a male giving a narrative on female hygiene.

  9. i don't think he is like MLK...

i think he is more like JFK...

  10. In this election season, i was given the choice of 2 evils. im picking the slightly nicer evil.

    SWOOSH! 2pts

    obama 2008

  11. l think you were dreaming.....it's ok to wake up now...

  12. they're both black. that's about as deep as the average black person thinks.

  13. That's all they got.

  14. One politician said years ago that if it happens in politics, you can bet it was planned. Obama campaign people have had themselves and allies outside the campaign make comparisons to both MLK and JFK. Plus, the acceptance speech in a stadium thing was borrowed from JFK, along with other things here and there from either of them, like the day of Obama's acceptance speech being scheduled for the same day as the "I have a dream" speech. It's been done on purpose to borrow some of their political clout and related feelings in the voters' minds.

Any real comparison to MLK won't match up, except for some general details. As for the JFK comparison some have mentioned, the only politician running that compares to him at all is John McCain. JFK had a military career and several (I think 14) years in the senate before running for president. McCain has about 20 years of each.

Also, because of how the mind works, any african american man that gives a rousing good speech with some hope sprinkled on it will remind EVERYONE of MLK, at least a little. Suggest it a bunch on top of that, and you get what's happened with Obama. It works similarly to a commercial.

  15. A sever lack of bonafied heroes.

  16. boy you sound bitter...

    obama/biden

  17. Why do people start out questions to address one group of people in the assumption that they all think alike? Please stop posting ridiculous questions that only leaves opportunity for people to leave ridiculous answers.

David L, black people don't have a severe lack of heroes. You would know that if your narrowminded behind took the time to read. What we do have is a severe lack of white america not willing to recognize the accomplishments of blacks in this country. Barack Obama being a prime example. The most educated and talented out of all the candidates yet people still talk of him as being just a dumb n*****. Get the F*** out my country little boy!

  18. Because the are both black and give good speeches.

  19. Because we don't. Geeez get a clue. Why do Obama haters make stuff up about black people?
