Question:

Why do British people support Andy Murray so much?

He's made it clear that he wants nothing to do with British tennis. He wants to be known particularly as a Scott, not as a person from the U.K.

When people loop him with other UK players, he gets insulted. This guy is so arrogant. He didn't win against Gasquet the other day, he choked. WTF was he doing flexing after the match? What did he have to even flex? I'm glad he got destroyed by Rafa today lol, to show him a dose of reality.

Vamos Rafa!

  1. I didn't expect him to beat Gasquet even before the match started but he did, so for British tennis he did really well.

But as usual British tennis players are miles behind the best as Nadal showed today.

Federer Vs. Nadal will be another great final if it turns out that way.

Murray is British so Britons want him to win, that stands to reason.

  2. I think what the asker means by "Andy didn't win" is that if Gasquet didn't choke, he would have won the match. Therefore, Andy only won because of Gasquet inability to close out the match, and I fully agree with this. I don't like Andy Murray, so I may be a little biased, but I don't think he's that great. He's cocky for the wrong reason. I understand why the British support Murray, but I'm sure it's only because it's their only hope, though I don't believe he will ever win a slam.

    Vamos Rafa! :)

  3. hes just a state.. hes already made like a million£ and he goes on national telivision looking like a total tramp..god the sight of him just makes me sick, and the bicep flexing after the match, like whaaat the h**l was that about.

Then you get all the english commentators saying "ooooh yes he can definately win wimbledon" lol get real that quarterfinal will be the last he'll be achieving in his miserable career

and while getting a thrashing by nadal today you get one commentator say "oh hes tired, thats why hes not playing well"

Honestly all they do is bumlick him.. hes just simply and overated piece of junk..

  4. Completly agree!  I'm so glad Nadal crushed him today, showing him real strength. god knows why Murray flexed his arm in the first place, what is there to flex?

I watch Murray and struggle to understand WHY he gets public support, he never used to. I suppose its because he is all Britain has got. Being British, I still wont support that moron.

  5. BEACUSS HE COMES FROM FRIGGIN BRITAN U RETARTD!

  6. I don't know, maybe because he's British.

  7. "He didn't win against Gasquet the other day" Eh? What are you on about? He DID win! How else would he have played Nadal in the next round if he hadn't won?

Anyway, he is Scottish so of course he is going to be proud of his scottish roots and he is not going to want to have that taken away and siomply classed as a Brit. But he also plays for "GB" - he said that himself. He is not Anti-british. He is just proud of his Scot roots (as all scots are) and doesn't want that forgotten.

  8. We continue to support Andy Murray as, although he is from Scotland, he IS a British player...if the United Kingdom turned against one of their own players what would the world be coming to???

He is, at the moment, our only real hope of a Brit winning the Wimbledon title in decades...

Obviously that dream was crushed today!

  9. because He play as an UK player..

  10. Because he plays for UK. And yeah, hes ignorant we've all seen that.

  11. he made one bad comment when he was 18 and people r goin to judge him on that. He did retract his statement saying it was taken out context etc after he made that english statement. I think we are very lucky that we have at least one good british player that has potential to win a slam. He was new to the world of the media and ssaid things which were taken abit too seriously and unfortunately for him he is discovering the consequences of the power of the media.

  12. It is just like how many Americans trying to associate with Sharapova and claiming she is because she lives here even though she has on more than once insulted Americans.  I think they think he is the best they have from that section of the world so even though he is not one of them and he clearly says so, they want so desperately for him to say he is one of them that they are willing to take all the insults.

  13. because they havent have a good player in a looooong time

  14. The great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one.

  15. He's an idiot. You're correct. Rafa killed him and took him out and gave Murray a taste of his own medicine. Why doesn't Murray want to be supported by the British? After his remarks,  why do the British still support him? I find it strange.

  16. That's a very good point, and I totally agree with you.

I dont think many support him after his comments on why he doesn't want to play for Britain and prefers to represent Scotland. I noticed that for Wimbledon though, he represents Great Britain. So it may be the reason why the British support him for this one.

I can't stand the guy personally. It's one thing to sound positive and motivated, it's another to be arrogant. Some of the waaaay better players are a lot more modest than him.

Rafael was truly lethal today and if he continues to play the way he does, I think he'll win.
