  1. one country two policies

  2. because they are diffrent countrys but all in the same continent

  3. Hongkong used to be a British colony and came back to China as Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. According to the "one country, two systems"policy,Hongkong can maintain capitalism for another 100 years. That means Hongkong has a high-level right of national autonomy. Although HK doesn't have its own military and diplomacy, it can still participate in some international organizations or sport events by itself.

The situation in Taiwan is quite different and more complicated. Concerning the Chinese history, there are still many contradictions between Taiwan and Chinese mainland. But those problems will be solved in near future,I am quite sure~

Although the three regions compete in the Olympics seperately, they share the same name: CHINA!!

  4. china is ran under a communism party hong kong and taiwan aint, but still by china

  5. well taiwan want to be free, but china won't let it be, so it's not carrying it's official taiwanese flag, just one that someone made up, and idk about hong kong

  6. Because PRC (People's Republic of China) agreed that HK and Taiwan as well as Macau to be a separate political government but all 3 countries is ONE CHINA.

    [[edit]] French/English/Chinese (Mandarin)

  7. To balance out the medal count, or else we'll have China getting something ridiculous like 65 golds, 45 silver and 55 bronze..

  8. The Republic of China (known as Taiwan) is an independent country. However, the People's Republic of China doesn't recognize it as one. So the PRC came to an agreement with the IOC that The ROC could compete separately from the PRC. However, there are certain rules. They must compete as Chinese Taipei. The PRC and ROC have two different meanings of this term. Chinese Taipei must also use a different flag, with the Olympic Rings and their national emblem on it. They also can't play their anthem when they win a Gold medal. They use a different national song instead.

Hong Kong has competed as a separate country since 1952, when it was a British colony. As a result they still do.

Macau has never actually competed at the Olympics. Both Macau and Hong Kong are allowed because of the one country, two system policy.

Much the same rules apply for the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Puerto Rico etc.

  9. All three countries equal one China, but all have different goverments
