If Europeans evolved to be white, and Africans evolved to be black - why do Chinese people and Indian people look so different if they evolved within the same region?

  1. The "blackness" of people are based on longitute as is the hair texture. Indigenous populations that stretch along the equator stretch such as Malaysia, Adanamese Islands, Tropical Africa and Northern South America share similar traits.

Distance from the Prime meridian seems to correlate with variations in indigenous populations as well. More easterly Asians have facial features are similar to those of an almost equal distance from the meridian but in the Western hemisphere, such as skin oiliness.

  2. There's a gentleman that lives in Kazakhstan, whose ancestor from 40,000 years ago, represents a successful mutation, which divided the Mongoloid and the Caucasoid, in that region of the world!

The Mongoloid tribe decided to head east, circumventing the Himalayas, to the north.

The Caucasian tribes split up. Some drifted southward towards Iran & Pakistan, and became known as Indo-Aryans. Others migrated west, and became modern-day Europeans.

The ones that were closest to the Equator, eventually developed a darker tan, than those who headed to Europe!

  3. China and India are separated by a huge mountain range, the Himalayas.  The first instance of Chinese-Indian communication is well remembered in Chinese culture (although it might be exaggerated, I don't know) as a Chinese monk who crossed the Himalayas into India, taught a bunch of Buddhist stuff and was taught a bunch of Hindu texts, and crossed back into China.  This explains the culture differences.

As far as physical differences, I think you are only looking at the stereotypical Indians and Chinese.  Since China is such a huge region, there are Chinese who are as pale as Europeans, and there are other Chinese who are as dark as Mexicans.  China and India are such huge countries that you probably haven't encountered the people who would disprove your observation.

  4. The Africans did not evolve to be black, all of the early humans were black, most of the other race evolved from black and took various features and colors over time. Even though all the population outside Africa evolved from a common population, the groups were stayed in isolation and India had contacts with Africa and their were slow and gradual infusion of African features in Indians.

  5. Same region? Please go look at a map!

The modern Indian population is made up of several groups varying from region to region.

Recent genetic testing shows that there is not one "Chinese" race and that to this day there is a distinct genetic difference between Northern and Southern Chinese.

There's this thing called population genetics please wiki and google it!
